Thanksgiving Meal, Cafeteria, Thursday

The cafeteria's dining room looked much less institutional today than one might expect. White linens had been draped on the tables, and flowers and autumn leaves were arranged in centerpieces on the tables. It was probably best not to ask where they'd found enough silver and china -- yet, somehow, there it was.

The scene in the kitchen it was another story, and the controlled chaos there was -- while mostly manageable -- definitely loud, hot, and confusing.

In other words, it was a proper Thanksgiving.

Priestly was there, keeping an eye on the desserts and ready to sous-chef away.

Possibly as soon as he figured out just how to do that.

Emma had...knives. And vegetables, a large soda (highly caffeinated), and a robot-baby-Marcus that was probably being bounced between fake-parents depending on who had their hands least-full at the moment.

Clearly, it was a miracle nothing was on fire yet.

Layla was there putting the finishing touches to the green bean casserole.

She stuck to the recipe on the back of the can so everyone should be safe to eat it.

Sam was ready to cook, amazingly enough, and was keeping an eye out for any stray Student Council or cheerleading folks who might need something from him.

Joan was kind of glad that her group had a simple job today. It meant they got to avoid most of the chaos.

She hoped.

Chuck wasn't planning to stay for the dinner at all but he was in the kitchen early to do his assignment. As quickly as possible. So he could go drink somewhere.

Pfft you people and your family dinners. Weirdos.

Raven ignored the turkey but helped herself to all the vegetable dishes, then took a seat and wondered who else was still at the school for the holiday.

Maron wasn't really huge on the whole holiday, at least this one, as she didn't super understand it other than there was food and they were to be thankful for it so...

Well, she didn't really need more of an excuse to show up, did she?

Diana didn't care that this wasn't her holiday - there was free food. The rest was just a detail. Samuel mostly agreed with her. "You still should have brought something." He informed her.

Where there was a school event, there would also be Worf. As usual he believed such gatherings were mandatory for all students and staff.

That however did not stop him from choosing the most strategically defensive spot in the dining room and settling down to eat.

Possibly with an entire turkey in front of him.

By the time Kennedy was done loading up her plate, there was a ridiculous amount of food on it, especially in proportion to her not at all considerable size. She miiiiiiiight have been looking around for someone in particular, but she wouldn't turn down a chance to socialize tonight.

Dinner in the school cafeteria totally beat out dinner back home in New York. Hands down. Suck it, stepmom.

Jack had his plate piled up with a bit of everything, layered in a food pyramid topped with gravy. You could almost see his arteries hardening as he found a seat.

Ender had nowhere to be and nowhere to go, and that made his choice for the holiday rather peacably obvious. He stacked a plate with some food and took a seat at the table, quietly.

Tahiri didn't take a whole lot of food, but she did try to grab a bit of everything before she found herself a seat near the side of the cafeteria. It looked like there wasn't any worry about getting seconds in the unlikely event that she ended up wanting some, anyway.

After all the research he'd done, there wasn't a chance Jonas would miss the actual holiday. He helped himself to little portions of different things before finding a seat. Some of the things he recognized, some he didn't so he decided to eat the things he recognized first so he wouldn't turn himself off on the food.

Adora had never experienced a Thanksgiving dinner before, and how amazing it was to see all the foods assembled! She would simply have to try it all! It would be impressive if she managed it.
