Thanksgiving Meal, Cafeteria, Thursday

The cafeteria's dining room looked much less institutional today than one might expect. White linens had been draped on the tables, and flowers and autumn leaves were arranged in centerpieces on the tables. It was probably best not to ask where they'd found enough silver and china -- yet, somehow, there it was.

The scene in the kitchen it was another story, and the controlled chaos there was -- while mostly manageable -- definitely loud, hot, and confusing.

In other words, it was a proper Thanksgiving.

"I build up all my tension in my neck and shoulders," he shared, motioning her to turn around and skimming a hand along the back of her neck. "I know the feeling. How long do you have the robot anyway?"
icecoldfrost: (Emma is thinking)

"I normally carry everything there anyway, this week has just made it worse," she agreed, reaching up to tug the neck-loop on her apron free. It would only be in the way. "And Kyle and I have him until next Thursday. Skywalker is a jerk."

"You should just leave him with the father," he said, digging his thumbs firmly into the back of her neck and lowering his voice. "Tell Kyle that it's bonding and you'll pick him up alternate weekends or something."
icecoldfrost: (cherry lips and)

Emma practically purred at the contact, leaning back into his touch and closing her eyes. "Kyle's good with him, too," she replied, slightly distractedly. "I don't think he'd mind, if I play it right."

"I could always talk to him, try to convince," he offered, moving his hands down across her shoulderblades. "I've been told I can be convincing."
icecoldfrost: (all your kings and queens)

"You're wonderfully convincing darling, which I think I've told you on more than one occasion," she teased. "I'll just tell him that mummy has a headache, and it's time for some manly bonding."

Mummy just wouldn't get over her headache for the next week. It always worked for Emma's mother, when she didn't want to deal with any of her brood.

"Would he actually fall for that?" Alex wondered, pressing his thumbs into the backs of her shoulders and moving them in circles. "Seems like the oldest trick in the book."
icecoldfrost: (Emma is up to no good)

"Who says it's a trick?" His fingers found a knot and Emma moaned happily, brain short-circuiting for a moment before she remembered what she was saying.

"All I need to do is find someone in the dorm who's annoyingly cheerful or emo, and poke around in their brain a bit. That always gives me a headache."

"What if that inspired you to be overly cheerful and perky?" he teased, pushing the heel of his palm into that knot and rotating it around.
icecoldfrost: (don't need telepathy to know you're dumb)

Oh god that felt good. Emma wouldn't be able to go back to work in the kitchen today; she was too busy melting into little bits of goo.

"If I suddenly became overly cheerful and perky, I like to think I could depend on you to put me out of my misery."

"I probably would," he said, moving his hands over to concentrate on the other shoulder now, "after I laughed at you some. I think you'd forgive me for that."
