Library [11/06]

And that was that, then. No more Halloween decorations, no more eerie sounds playing in the background. No more plotting tricks to take the place of treats in Jonothon's absence of a lower jaw.

And reading to do, for class, because he had been entirely out of sorts on Monday and he had to read up on Buddhism to make up for the utter daze he'd been during Lady Ghanima's lecture.

At least he was in the proper place for it.

After class, Bobby had headed back to his room to get some work done on a very important project. Unfortunately, the wireless connection in Bobby's room was being weird, so he'd packed up his laptop and headed to the library in the hopes that that would work out better.

He had important work to do after all.

He had crops to harvest.

"What! No! Cats, why do you keep disappearing when I try and rotate you?" he exclaimed in frustration. Clearly, somebody needed to relearn the concept of libraries as quiet spaces.

"Farming," Bobby said, because that explained so much. "On Facebook." That might clear things up, sure... if you happened to be from 2009.

"Facebook. It's, um, a website? Where you post stuff about your day or weird videos or play silly games and stuff. And like, it's supposed to be so you can keep in touch with all your friends or whatever. But mostly I just play Farmville," he shrugged.

"Um, kind of, I guess? It's, you have a little farm and you plant crops, and harvest them, and keep animals..." it didn't sound that exciting when describing it, sure, but somehow it hooked you. Somehow.

"Uh huh!" Bobby nodded. "And look!" he called up the Market screen and bought a green alien cow. "Alien cows!" Best ever.

Once Sookie had gathered up her...really, really good books (several had Fabio on the cover! Shirtless! With windblown hair!), she noticed Bobby and his frustration. "You look busy," she said cheerfully, peeking over his shoulder.

"This is like... well, I guess it actually *is* herding cats. Only digitally instead of like, in real life. Not that I've ever herded cats in real life," he said, making a face at the screen.

She peered at the screen. "Aww, look at the kitties! Oh, oh, I love the little sheep! Look! They're like clouds with legs and blinky eyes!"

"The turtles are my favorite," Bobby admitted. That status totally had nothing to do with the fact that they were cute turtles. At all.

"They're adorable," she agreed, all but bouncing. "Oh! Oh, the pigs. Look at the little piggies!"

"With their wiggly pig noses!" Yup. Totally not affected by the cuteness.

"What is this?" she asked curiously.

With nothing else today, morning found Sookie wandering into the library to replenish her romance novel supply.

She had finished up all the Dusk series -- which had been awful, in her opinion -- and was now looking for something better. Preferably with more sex and less stupidness, but she wasn't going to say that aloud.

She waved at the guy behind the desk as she turned in her books. "Morning!"

Sookie's eyes went wide with a little start. "Oh, hey! You're telepathic too!" Why did this actually surprise her...ever, anymore? "Um, and no, I didn't. It...sucked. No pun intended."

For fun, she decided to try projecting back at him mentally instead of just speaking out loud. It was always amusing to try that.

//I'm Sookie. And there's a fair amount of us, here! I was surprise, too. Are we normal where you're from? 'Cause far as I know, I'm the only one at home.//

//Yeah, I'd never met anyone like me 'til I got here,// Sookie replied, grinning. //Just a bunch of vampires, and it's always neat to meet someone else who can do it. And you weren't even all that secretive about it!//
