Library [09/19]

The normal library tasks were starting to get familiar now that George had been doing them for three weeks.  Which weirdly didn't mean they were going faster cause as he put the books away, he kept stopping to look through them.  Who was reading books about pandas' mating habits?  Did they really think they were going to be breeding pandas anytime in the next fifteen years?

He finally settled down after lunch with a book about theories of government.  And a dictionary because Tortall education so didn't cover words like 'federalism.'

Despite his best efforts last night, he was still leaving little sparkles of blue and gold glitter everywhere he went.  Thank you, Jean.

It'd occurred to Beka that mayhap Lord Gershom'd be interested in this world's Dogs or however they called their city guards. The library seemed a good place to start. She'd no idea that George would be working there. She'd no idea why his hair was all... sparkly either. "Latest fashion?"

She wrinkled her nose at him. "The hair."

She was ignoring his first question. "I'm certain you deserved it."

"Like you got called to the vice-principal's office?" She'd no idea how she'd heard that. The voice coming out of nowhere had made her jump, but she was guessing she wasn't the only one to hear it.

"What wasn't?" she asked instantly. Now she was curious.

"So you got called for naught?" she eyed him. There was sommat like being too innocent.

"You've no need for me to worry about you," she assured him. "And you're cracked if you think I'll believe you've got called in for doing naught."

She'd not meant for it to be a Dog's question, but then mayhap she didn't know how to not sound like a Dog. She tried not to for an instant. "So what did you do?"

Twas and Beka pursed her lips, trying not to laugh. "And what did she do? Who was it anyway?"

"I know her," Beka said with a grin. "Does she know?"

"And you think she'll not meddle with you?" she asked lightly.

He was far too smug about that and Beka shrugged a shoulder, glancing at the bookshelves. Not even her Lord has a library this large. "Unless she finds out."

"You think I should be sticking with you?" she asked. "I've a feeling I'll be looking for a while if you don't."
