Library [09/19]

The normal library tasks were starting to get familiar now that George had been doing them for three weeks.  Which weirdly didn't mean they were going faster cause as he put the books away, he kept stopping to look through them.  Who was reading books about pandas' mating habits?  Did they really think they were going to be breeding pandas anytime in the next fifteen years?

He finally settled down after lunch with a book about theories of government.  And a dictionary because Tortall education so didn't cover words like 'federalism.'

Despite his best efforts last night, he was still leaving little sparkles of blue and gold glitter everywhere he went.  Thank you, Jean.

"Here I thought you'd be more persevering," she shrugged a shoulder. "Are there books on how their city guards work here?"

"I'm no honeylove," she did have the desire to reach across the desk and hit him. She settled for a glare.

"You implied it," she wrinkled her nose. "What kinds are there?"

"I suppose I'll know how to keep busy for a while," she concluded. "Start with the police in this country?" Those sounded closest to the Dogs.

"This island is more boring than I expected," she hadn't meant to say that out loud, but there it was. She shrugged a shoulder. "My Lord will be interested in it."

She shook her head. "Seemed like a bad idea when I don't know what half of everything here is."

"And you happen to be offering another pair?" she concluded, raising an eyebrow back at him. Strange how she didn't feel entirely adverse to it.

She made a face at him. "I've not minded afore."

"Rats," she said simply as she stepped up beside him, glancing up at the books. "Any recommendations?"

She took the book, leafing through it. It had a lot of those pictures. "You're very helpful," she said, trying not to laugh.

"A little," she agreed, considering a picture of a mounted policemen afore she spoke. "I'd like seeing more of this world."

"It'll take more than being bored to turn me into a Rat," she assured him, closing the book. "Is that what happened to you?" She could tease him too.

She was certain plenty a gixie found that move endearing. Not that she did. "I'm shocked," she said dryly.
