The Library

[janet_fraiser]

Janet unlocked the library and walked in, setting her laptop down warily behind the desk and trying not to think about Hathor the last time she was in here. She took a drink from her extra-large mug of coffee and started working.

ETA: She popped out a moment later and stuck a note up on the door: "New teachers need to check out the Rules of Conduct and fill out a library card application in blue or black ink, damn it. Please come inside for a form. Thank you."

"Well, I'm a bit traumatized from yesterday but I'm doing reasonably well," Lee says a bit pink in the face. 'You?"

"Traumatized from yesterday?" asks Janet curiously. "What happened? I'm recovering fine."

"I'm learning about the mating rituals and contraceptive devices on Earth," Lee says quietly with a concerned look on his face. "No wonder this planet is overpopulated."

Parker walks in, an grins when she sees Lee.

"Helloooooo, Adama. How's it hangin'?"

Lee narrows his eyes at Parker. "To the left," he responds tartly.

Parker widens her eyes, and then chortles. "Good to know." She puts Dr. Pierson's coffee down, and sipping her own, adds, "The porn in Special Collections is off-limits until we figure out what Julian did to turn into a cat. So sorry."

She unwraps a Nicorette, glares at it, and pops it in her mouth.

"So, inquiring minds want to know -- are you pregnant with John, Lee and Johnnylee triplets?" He asks with a glare.

Parker cocks an eyebrow at him. "Don't be silly, Adama. Raindrop is going to be an only child, thank god."

"Ah, so just one wee Parkette." Lee nods and smiles with teh eval.

Parker smiles back with equal brightness. "Exactly. I'm limiting my experience with carrying new life to this one wee... squidlet."

Lee is now confused and absently drinks out of Janet's coffee cup.

"At least, I assume Sunshine is the father." Parker leans forward. "Unless there's something about that leather-pants dance we had during Homecoming, that you want to tell me?" she looks concerned.

Lee freaks out but keeps his cool exterior. "Wait, can, um, Earth women not on Caprican hormone suppressants get pregnant from dancing really close to a guy not on hormone suppressants???"

Lee feels like he might be sick.

It's all the fun she's going to get today, damnit.

"I don't know, Lee! Maybe you should ask at the clinic?" Parker bites her lip, tries to look tearful. Not very sucessfully, though. "I don't know about alien physiology! And you're not that alien, but, you know! It was a really great dance!"

"Hey!" exclaims Janet. "Lee! What'd you do that for?"

Lee looks at her. "Do what?"

Janet tilts her head and looks at Lee curiously. "Who's been telling you what?" she asks. "This explains the voice mails. And mating rituals on Earth are far more complicated than just what's observable here. Daniel who is an ass could probably tell you more about those than nearly anyone in the school. And he could tell you about interplanetary mating rituals too. The jerk." She smiles sympathetically. "Overpopulation is a huge issue. You looking to do some reading up on it?"

Lee shifts from one foot to the other. "John. The internet. Your entertainment industry of sin. The way Hathor RAVISHED my poor virginal self and made me so very libidinous!. Have you see this Daniel person around lately?"

"Ah," says Janet knowingly. "The entertainment industry is unrealistic, the internet is full of some very strange and unusual things not to be taken as the norm for all humans--trust me--and John probably got flustered and confusing. I said I was sorry!" She frowns. "Dr. Jackson and I are very much not on speaking terms right now. But you might be able to find him in his office. If he hasn't died again gone on another extended archaeological dig."
