Library [04/14]

With finals approaching, Sam was looking forward to the possibility of having more company in the library than his usual visitors.

Then he opened the doors and found the library full of tiny sheep.

This was not how he wanted his week to begin.

Sam tried to clear the sheep off of the desk first, but it seemed like every time he picked one sheep up and put it on the floor, two more had managed to climb up.

Dawn came in carrying coffee and muffins, followed by a small train of tiny sheep in assorted colors. She set a cup down on the counter for Sam, leaving the lid on, and watched Sam for a few minutes.

"How's your morning?" She asked, tone almost bored. Meanwhile, three sheep tried to climb the table behind her.

"If I was slightly more awake, I'd make a sheep pun right now, but I'm not, so just pretend I did," Sam said, taking the coffee gratefully.

"Do we care what brought this on, or are we being slackers and ignoring it?" She grinned, watching a sheep try and edge stealthily toward the muffin bag.

"I have no idea what brought this on. I heard nothing in the weather broadcast about sheep," Sam said. "They seem harmless, if a little on the hungry side."

Dawn started giggling. "Nothing about a slight chance of wool, huh? They're always wrong anyway."

"Yeah, there was no sudden chance of bears over the weekend. Clearly, the weather is an unreliable source," Sam teased.

Second Period [04/14]

Sam was moving through the stacks, pulling sheep out of the shelves and making sure none of them had gotten trapped beneath books.

Third Period [04/14]

Sam thought about making a little corral for the sheep out of chairs or tables, but he was pretty sure they'd find a way out of it no matter how well it was designed.

Lunch [04/14]

The library was closed for lunch to everyone except the librarian, the other aides, and Dean. Sam had brought mini-salads for himself and Dean, and was offering his lettuce to any sheep who came near.

Dean came in with two covered containers, a tiny sheep cliinging to the straps of his back pack. "Hey Sammy, you think these things are fit together to make a normal sized sheep?"

"Considering how many little sheep I've seen today, I think they'd fit together into quite a few normal sized sheep," Sam replied.

"Yeah, they seem to be coming out of the woodwork. Woolwork. Something." He handed over one of the containers.

"At least they seem harmless," Sam said, taking the container. "That's more than I can say for some of the random animals lately."

"Yeah. Though I think even if they had weetiny lasers, they'd still be cute." He paused. "Hope you like lamb stew."

Sam gaped at Dean and covered the ears of the sheep who was still munching on his lettuce. "Don't joke about that, you'll scare them."

Fourth Period [04/14]

Sam had given up on trying to clear the sheep off of the desk for now, and was letting two of them rest on his lap as he read.

Peter came in at the usual time. There was a sheep peeking out of his bookbag. "Hey."

"Hey," Sam said, smirking at Peter's bag. "I think I'm going to have nightmares about being trampled by little tiny sheep tonight."

"They seem to be mostly harmless," Peter said. The sheep in his bag leaned over to try to rub his arm. "Little clingy maybe. Luckily I'm not allergic to wool."

"Me neither. I'm just glad they're small. I'd hate to see what they could get up to if they were bigger."

"I'm surprised you don't have Scout with you," Peter said. He handed over the usual cup of coffee. "He could learn how to be a sheep dog."

"I wonder if he'd be afraid of the sheep," Sam said. "He's fine with things that are bigger than him, but if something's little...he's a very strange dog sometimes."

He set the coffee down for a second, and then picked it back up as soon as he saw one of the sheep running towards the cup.

Fifth Period [04/14]

Slowly but surely, Sam finally managed to clear all of the sheep out of the library. It involved a trail of food and some maneuvering that someone his size probably shouldn't have been capable of, but he did it.
