With finals approaching, Sam was looking forward to the possibility of having more company in the library than his usual visitors.

Then he opened the doors and found the library full of tiny sheep.

This was not how he wanted his week to begin.

"I'm sure it meant nothing. If he was single, it would be different, but he's got Meg," Sam pointed out. "He's...he's Dean. That's just the way he is."

"This is new for me," Peter admitted. He took another sip of coffee. "It's not like it ever came up with me and Nathan. I feel like I'm supposed to be offering to punch him out."

"You can if you want to," Sam offered. "I won't stop you as long as you limit it to one punch."

"Well now you're just ruining my fun," Peter said, deadpan.

"You can make it one really good punch?" Sam suggested. "Or you can trust me when I say it didn't mean anything."

"I'm not really mad," Peter admitted. He gave a wry smile. "Mostly I feel like I'm supposed to be mad."

"I don't know. I mean, I wasn't too mad. More embarrassed to be related to him," Sam said.

"Well you're an honorary Petrelli," Peter reminded him. "Whenever you feel like that you can just come over to our side of the family for a while."

"Consider me on your side of the family until further notice then," Sam said. "Is everything okay? With you and Brooke, I mean. Because if Dean's flirting messed with anything..."

"Nah," Peter assured him. "Heck, we haven't even talked since then. I just felt like maybe I was supposed to say something, or be pissed. I dunno. I'm still new at this."

"If it was anyone but Dean, I'd be right by your side, offering to hold the guy while you hit him," Sam said. "But if I were you, I wouldn't be pissed. I only know that Dean flirted with Brooke. Odds are, she didn't even flirt back."

"It's Brooke," Peter said. "I'm pretty sure she did."

"Well, isn't she a lot like Dean? I mean, doesn't she flirt a lot?" Realizing how that sounded, he quickly added, "Without it meaning anything, I mean."

"Exactly," Peter said. He shrugged to indicate that Brooke's flirting didn't bother him.

"So, there you go. There's nothing to worry about," Sam said.

"I wasn't worried. Just - " Peter shrugged. "I dunno. It's stupid. Forget I said anything."

"Hey, whatever's going on in your head, it's not stupid," Sam insisted.

"You get extra best friend points for saying that," Peter told him. "Okay thing is? I'm not worried, but I feel like I'm supposed to be. So I'm worried that I'm not worried."

Sam thought about that for a moment before shrugging. "I don't think you should be worried if you don't have anything to worry about. If you know everything's okay, then why get worked up?"

Peter grinned, then held out his hand to shake. "Sorry - Peter Petrelli. I thought we'd met."

Sam laughed and swatted at Peter's hand, rolling his eyes. "Okay, let me rephrase that. Normal people don't get worked up if they know that everything is okay."

"So we're establishing that neither one of us is normal," Peter said.

"I think that might have already been established, but yeah, this is verifying it."

"I'm glad we could take this time to confirm it," Peter said, teasing.

"It was important," Sam teased. "Seriously though, I don't think you're wrong to not be worried."
