Library [03/03]

As much as Sam had enjoyed being in Mexico - he'd enjoyed most of the trip, at least - it felt good to be back in the library. Of course, it would have felt better if he'd been able to get his shoes on in the morning, but he wasn't about to try to argue with his sneakers before he'd had any coffee.

Sam was pretty sure people wouldn't have many overdue books, thanks to the break, but that didn't keep him from checking anyway.

Sam's e-mail inbox looked a little scary, but clearing out the spam was proving to be very entertaining.

Sam was in the stacks, organizing books like a great big geek.

The library was closed for lunch to everyone except the librarian, the other aides, and Dean.

Today Dean had gone down to the diner and got a couple of burgers and fries to go. He dropped the bag on Sammy's desk as he took his usual seat. "Dude, did your shoes give you attitude this morning or was it just mine?"

"It wasn't just you," Sam assured him. "That was an annoyance I could have done without this morning."

Sam laughed. "Mine just didn't want to be put on. I don't think they had an idea about what we should do instead."

There was muffled muttering from the direction of Dean's feet. Dean glanced down and then grinned at Sammy. "They can't talk as well when I've got them all laced up."

Sam was back at the desk, looking through the pictures he'd taken in Mexico.

Fourth period meant Peter. He came over to the desk and placed a can of gingerale and a packet of saltines down. "Afternoon."

Sam looked at what Peter had brought and laughed. "I'm not really hungover any more," he said, though that didn't stop him from taking a cracker.

"Oh damn," Peter said. "This is all I brought."

It was possible that Sam could smell coffee.

That was definitely possible, and Sam started to pout at Peter. "Really?"

"Yep," Peter said. He dug into a bag he had with him and pulled out a piece of donut. He then popped this into his mouth and began chewing. "Not a thing."

If that was how Peter wanted to play things, he was definitely getting the puppy eyes. "Not anything else at all? Nothing that smells really good and will keep me awake for the rest of the day?"

Sam grabbed his things and took a quick sweep through the library to make sure he had everything cleaned up before he locked up.
