As much as Sam had enjoyed being in Mexico - he'd enjoyed most of the trip, at least - it felt good to be back in the library. Of course, it would have felt better if he'd been able to get his shoes on in the morning, but he wasn't about to try to argue with his sneakers before he'd had any coffee.

"You're so lucky you didn't get into trouble. Think of the field day Nathan would have had rescuing you and Brooke from the Mexican police."

"Could've turned us both invisible," Peter pointed out. He sipped his coffee. "Not that that would've helped with our clothes and all but at least it's a getaway."

"I guess that would have worked," Sam admitted. "I still can't believe you actually did that, though. You've got serious guts."

"I'm a little surprised myself," Peter admitted. "But Brooke can make a convincing argument."

Sam laughed. "I'm going to assume this wasn't an entirely verbal argument?"

"It's a fair assumption," Peter said, grinning.

"You seem really happy," Sam said, with a grin of his own.

"It's nice to have something low-key, you know?" Peter said. "No worries about the future, just taking it as it comes."

"If that's what you like, then I'm happy you're getting it," Sam said.

"It wasn't what I was looking for, but I'm glad now that it's here," Peter said. "If that makes any sense."

"Yeah, that makes sense," Sam said. "I didn't know that I was looking for a lot of what I get from Dawn until she gave it to me, so I totally understand that."

"Two of you have fun?" Peter asked. "Down in Mexico?"

Sam shrugged. "We had fun, but not like you had. We were sharing a room with Dean and Meg, after all."

"Yeah, unfortunately privacy was hard to come by," Peter said. "Brooke and I lucked out."

"You made your own privacy," Sam pointed out. "I think Dean was hoping something would happen after he got me drunk and dressed up...Dawn might have taken some girlfriend privileges while I was passed out, but I don't know."

"I thought the mustasche she drew on your face was nice."

"What? I didn't...did I have something on my face yesterday?"

"It's gone now," Peter assured him. He helped himself to more donut.

Sam still wiped at his face anyway, and grumbled. "Never letting Dean get me drunk again."

Peter snickered and took pity. "I was kidding. But you really shouldn't let Dean get you drunk again. Maybe next time I'll change your hair color."

"Hey! That's not a very best friendly thing to do," Sam said.

Peter retaliated by looking cute.

"Oh, unfair," Sam said, putting his hand up in front of Peter's eyes to try to block them.

Peter laughed. "See? This is the kind of thing you should be using against Dean. Save you a headache later."

"I can't use the puppy look on him all the time though, or it stops being effective," Sam said.
