Communication: Week 1 (Thursday, P5)

Silent Bob has never quite looked the part of a teacher, not even without his hetero lifemate - who was, surprisingly, completely absent. Bob did keep looking towards the window with some kind of trepidation, as if not sure who had gotten into the grappling hooks and was about to make an appearance at any moment.

He was wearing a 'HELLO MY NAME IS' badge, but the name on said badge was 'Jay'. Students he'd had before got a little wink to play along as they would take a sticker for themselves.

He also had his ever-present whiteboard (very handy for remaining silent) and the title 'COMMUNICATION'. When everyone had settled, he skipped the introductions and spoke.

Yes, spoke.

Silent Bob said, "Communication leads to community, that is, to understanding, intimacy, and mutual valuing." Without saying another word, he wrote 'TYPES OF COMMUNICATION' on one side of his board and then 'REASONS TO COMMUNICATE' on the other, turning back towards the class and leaning against the teacher's desk with that expectant sort of 'your turn' look on his face.

[[OCD on the way up. Name thing will be explained in the threads. Today is also my first day of class, so I'll be gone for a chunk of the afternoon but will be around to play later on. Bob is still looking for a TA. Play away!]]

Meg figured she confused people enough just by looking like Jo so she put her own name on the nametag.

Naminé drew a tiny blonde stick figure in lieu of an actual name for herself.

Jeff's nametag said, proudly, 'JEFF'.

It was also upside-down.

He hadn't noticed.

Summer's nametag had 'Autumn' written on it. At least it was still a season.

Cedric wrote 'Jack Harkness' on his nametag. Just for kicks.

Jack wrote "JACK" on his nametag. He wasn't in on the joke.

Hoshi wrote out her name in kanji since it didn't look like anyone here knew Japanese.

After a moment of thought, Mac wrote 'PC' on her nametag.

She almost felt dirty.

Since Anemone wasn't in on the joke, she simply wrote her name on the sticker.

But it looked lonely, so she doodled little anemone flowers and Gullivers around the border before deciding it was done.

Andrew simply wrote 'Andrew' on his nametag. The he proceeded to draw little horned and fanged stick figures all over it.

Cassandra stared at the nametag blankly. She had absolutely no idea what she was supposed to do with it.

Pam wrote her own name neatly, not realizing she should do anything else.

Carmela may not have been in on the joke, but she's also observant, and manages to notice the others in the class who are not just writing their names on their tags.

So she writes her name. In the somewhat-Arabic-looking characters of the written form of the Speech.

John put his name on his nametag and slapped it on his chest. He had no idea there was a game afoot.

Sam saw that people were writing down the wrong names on their nametags, but he wrote his own name down anyway. Maybe someone would think he was playing along anyway.

Inara had no idea there was a joke, so she wrote her name neatly on the tag before sticking it to herself.

Demyx looked around at everyone else and their nametag fun before writing on his own. Grinning, he simply wrote the Roman numeral "IX".

Jeff blinked. "I'm not entirely certain what you're attempting to communicate," he said, "But then I rarely am so I may have missed a bit. Communication's tricky, there's a lot of, you know, unexpected pits and everything, I wouldn't want to trip over a question or anything."

Jeff was holding the weird, scratchy note in his mother's handwriting he'd gotten on Tuesday. He held it upside down, turned it back around, held it further upside down, turned it around, and finally said, "...Bop? Bot?" He flipped it over again. "Oh! Bob. That's an interesting surname, that is."

Re: Talk to Bob after class

[identity profile] scary-jeff.livejournal.com 2007-09-06 01:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Jeff came up to Bob after class, suitably impressed. He was scratching the back of his head. "Er, sir, Jay Bob? I have this question, you know, I have lots of questions, I've just got to be careful about them, you never know when a question is going to come up unexpectedly."

He scratched some more.

"...How do you stop?"
