Silent Bob has never quite looked the part of a teacher, not even without his hetero lifemate - who was, surprisingly, completely absent. Bob did keep looking towards the window with some kind of trepidation, as if not sure who had gotten into the grappling hooks and was about to make an appearance at any moment.

He was wearing a 'HELLO MY NAME IS' badge, but the name on said badge was 'Jay'. Students he'd had before got a little wink to play along as they would take a sticker for themselves.

He also had his ever-present whiteboard (very handy for remaining silent) and the title 'COMMUNICATION'. When everyone had settled, he skipped the introductions and spoke.

Yes, spoke.

Silent Bob said, "Communication leads to community, that is, to understanding, intimacy, and mutual valuing." Without saying another word, he wrote 'TYPES OF COMMUNICATION' on one side of his board and then 'REASONS TO COMMUNICATE' on the other, turning back towards the class and leaning against the teacher's desk with that expectant sort of 'your turn' look on his face.

"What are you talking about?" asked Hoshi.

"There were things on the radio! I hadn't had any food, I didn't mean to, it's just my stomach sort of... reacted."

"So there's no union?" asked Hoshi. She really didn't care about the rest of the broadcast. She just needed to know how this union stuff worked.

"Oh! The union!" Jeff stared at her in sheer panic for a moment before returning, indignantly, "Of course there's a union! There's got to be a union, otherwise Gunther will take over and kill us all with mutant food."

"He was a most unpleasant person," said Hoshi. "I've never heard so many German curse words before."

"I think he breeds them," Jeff said, sagging a little, "I'm fairly certain some of them haven't been invented yet."

"That's where I must have an advantage, being from a later century," said Hoshi.

Jeff was impressed. "That's got to be handy," he said.

"Not always," said Hoshi. "For example, we don't use currency in my time period. The nice girl at Turtle and Canary had to give me a lesson in what all those bills and coins were used for."

"Ooh, you've met Turtle? She's my girlfriend." Jeff grinned goofily, "She's got the best hair, doesn't she? And eyes. She's got lots and lots of eyes."

"I thought she only had two eyes," said Hoshi, looking confused.

"I know! Dozens of them!" He grinned. "She's helping me start next week's rebellion at the hotel, but I'm not supposed to tell 'cos she doesn't want Turtle & Canary to be connected openly to the union." Jeff beamed, proudly, "I feel she'd make for a very good mob figure."

"What sort of rebellion?" asked Hoshi. "That Miss Connell just hired me to work at the hotel because I can communicate with Gunther better than she can.

"Gunther needs to be stopped," Jeff said, simply. It was probably the closest thing to 'action hero' he'd ever get.

"What can I do to help?" asked Hoshi.

"Tuesday," he said, gesturing, "Be there!"

"Will do," said Hoshi.
