Silent Bob has never quite looked the part of a teacher, not even without his hetero lifemate - who was, surprisingly, completely absent. Bob did keep looking towards the window with some kind of trepidation, as if not sure who had gotten into the grappling hooks and was about to make an appearance at any moment.

He was wearing a 'HELLO MY NAME IS' badge, but the name on said badge was 'Jay'. Students he'd had before got a little wink to play along as they would take a sticker for themselves.

He also had his ever-present whiteboard (very handy for remaining silent) and the title 'COMMUNICATION'. When everyone had settled, he skipped the introductions and spoke.

Yes, spoke.

Silent Bob said, "Communication leads to community, that is, to understanding, intimacy, and mutual valuing." Without saying another word, he wrote 'TYPES OF COMMUNICATION' on one side of his board and then 'REASONS TO COMMUNICATE' on the other, turning back towards the class and leaning against the teacher's desk with that expectant sort of 'your turn' look on his face.

He's copying down the whiteboard before erasing it.

Jeff came up to Bob after class, suitably impressed. He was scratching the back of his head. "Er, sir, Jay Bob? I have this question, you know, I have lots of questions, I've just got to be careful about them, you never know when a question is going to come up unexpectedly."

He scratched some more.

"...How do you stop?"

Bob gave him a curious look. Stop what?

"Communicating." The head-scratching was getting a little distracting for him, so he stopped that, fiddling with his shirt instead. "I have this tendency to over-communicate. I blurt. How do I stop?"

Bob grinned and shook his head. You can't stop communicating.

Jeff physically sagged. That was depressing. "Thanks," he said, head drooping.

Bob patted him on the back in what was meant to be a comforting kind of way.

After class Cassandra tries to catch Bob's eye without actually having to approach him.

Luckily, Bob is very good at eye contact. He nodded in her direction, curious.

She nodded back, but then frowned, thinking. After a moment she stood up and walked over, "Um..." she says. Her body language is hesitant.

Bob leaned forward, his brow furrowing in concern.

"Um... I can't read," she finally managed. Then she frowned just a bit, hesitant again. "But... you're very..." she paused, looking for the word, "Eloquent?"

She wasn't talking about the way he spoke either.

His eyes widened almost comically and he scratched the back of his neck, face entirely apologetic.

She shook her head and waved off the apology. "It's okay. You're better at talking," she frowned, "without... talking than most people. I just... wanted to tell you."

Bob made a series of gestures which seemed to indicate that he would try harder next week to make himself understood better.

Cassandra grinned and shifted posture minutely before responding with a subtle series of movements of her own. Bob was the first person she'd met in a long time who she thought would be able to pick up that she understood the gestures better than words anyway.

Bob smiled and nodded with an 'okay' sign. He got it.

She nodded quickly and then gave a short wave. Next week, then.
