Communication: Week 1 (Thursday, P5)

Silent Bob has never quite looked the part of a teacher, not even without his hetero lifemate - who was, surprisingly, completely absent. Bob did keep looking towards the window with some kind of trepidation, as if not sure who had gotten into the grappling hooks and was about to make an appearance at any moment.

He was wearing a 'HELLO MY NAME IS' badge, but the name on said badge was 'Jay'. Students he'd had before got a little wink to play along as they would take a sticker for themselves.

He also had his ever-present whiteboard (very handy for remaining silent) and the title 'COMMUNICATION'. When everyone had settled, he skipped the introductions and spoke.

Yes, spoke.

Silent Bob said, "Communication leads to community, that is, to understanding, intimacy, and mutual valuing." Without saying another word, he wrote 'TYPES OF COMMUNICATION' on one side of his board and then 'REASONS TO COMMUNICATE' on the other, turning back towards the class and leaning against the teacher's desk with that expectant sort of 'your turn' look on his face.

[[OCD on the way up. Name thing will be explained in the threads. Today is also my first day of class, so I'll be gone for a chunk of the afternoon but will be around to play later on. Bob is still looking for a TA. Play away!]]

"Ha ha," Rodney rolled his eyes right back at John. "Actually, a field trip to the mainland might not be such a bad idea for some of the students who aren't familiar with this world. However, I'd hate for them to get the impression that America is what the entire planet is like."

"Right, we should make sure they know the wonders of maple syrup and frozen tundra," John smirked.

"Not to mention hockey and real bacon," Rodney played along. "Oh, and you know, that little thing called tolerance."

"Americans have tolerance, Rodney," John said. "We let you stay, didn't we?"

Rodney resisted the impulse to stick his tongue out at John. Barely. "Of course you let me stay. The U.S. has been recruiting intelligent and talented Canadians for ages."

"Or they've been flocking to us to come in from the cold," John offered.

"At least we don't have a warmonger in charge," Rodney snarked back.

"Hey, I'm not gonna offend your queen," John raised his hands in defeat. "She was hot back in her day."
