Luau, The Main Campfire, Friday evening

Around dinner time on Friday, the main campfire was transformed. Leis and grass skirts were available to all. A pig was roasting kabobs. There was Hawaiian music playing from somewhere. There was also a limbo stick of doom. If you lost, you died.

Okay, that was just Drax's hope. He couldn't make it happen in reality. Woe.

"I thought it might be cold," he said. Or he just felt a little dorky going shirtless so soon after arriving.

"It's not," Johnny pointed out, folding his arms across his chest and staring at Gavin in such a way that might possibly have implied chicken.

"I guess not," Gavin said and crossed his own arms. "I had to be sure. So I wouldn't freeze."

"Right," he grinned slightly. "And since you've been proven wrong," he shrugged, "...unless of course you're blood just runs thin and you are cold but don't want to admit to it." Because manly men go shirtless by god!

Johnny might be enjoying this.

"I've got thick skin," Gavin retorted immediately. Of course, he still had his shirt on. He wasn't going to admit to nerves. "I don't want to get bitten by any bugs."

Johnny tilted his head back and laughed, "Dude, didn't you just say you had thick skin? And I'd say the area surrounding is pretty much bug free. I haven't been bit yet."

After a moment's hesitation, he just did it. "Fine."

And off came the shirt.

Grinning slyly, Johnny said smartly, "Welcome to Fandom."

He tucked his shirt underneath his arm and said, "Going without a shirt makes it official now?"

Well, at least, he was cooler now. Literally. Fires were hot!

"I'm not sure I'm an expert yet, but I would say we're moving in the right direction," he said, his eyes on Gavin.

Johnny wasn't bothered by the fire, not one single bit.

Since it was dark, any blushing that he might be doing was hidden. Mostly. Or, at least, he hoped it was.

"If you're not an expert yet," he said, grinning a little, "you're probably close."

Ooh, a compliment. Coming from guy or girl, Johnny loved them. He might have preened and drew closer to the fire, which, inadvertently, drew him closer to Gavin. "Hopefully by the end of summer I'll be considered an expert," he said, smiling, "...and is it just me, Gavin, or are you a tad on the shy side this evening?"

"I had to do that the other night," he explained. "It's a guy code thing. I'm still learning about that. And I'm not different! Well, except, I was wearing a shirt then."

"It's a guy code thing to be protective, but taking your shirt off is a little," he flattened his hand and tilted it back and forth, "iffy?" Laughing and shaking his head, he went to clamp Gavin on the shouler. "Nope, no different at all."

"See," Gavin said, nodding. "I'm not different. And I took my shirt off because I thought I was being challenged."

"Come on, loosen up man! We need to have some fun tonight!"

He didn't know how to prove that though but he was loose.

He shook his head, "Supposed to be going out later tonight with my boss. Something about hunting for ghosts." He shrugged and grabbed a marshmallow, torching it and blowing on it before he shoved it in his mouth.
