Luau, The Main Campfire, Friday evening

Around dinner time on Friday, the main campfire was transformed. Leis and grass skirts were available to all. A pig was roasting kabobs. There was Hawaiian music playing from somewhere. There was also a limbo stick of doom. If you lost, you died.

Okay, that was just Drax's hope. He couldn't make it happen in reality. Woe.

"It's not," Johnny pointed out, folding his arms across his chest and staring at Gavin in such a way that might possibly have implied chicken.

"I guess not," Gavin said and crossed his own arms. "I had to be sure. So I wouldn't freeze."

Stalling, stalling...

"Right," he grinned slightly. "And since you've been proven wrong," he shrugged, "...unless of course you're blood just runs thin and you are cold but don't want to admit to it." ~~Because manly men go shirtless by god!~~

Johnny might be enjoying this.

"I've got thick skin," Gavin retorted immediately. Of course, he still had his shirt on. He wasn't going to admit to nerves. "I don't want to get bitten by any bugs."

Laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaame.

Johnny tilted his head back and laughed, "Dude, didn't you just say you had thick skin? And I'd say the area surrounding is pretty much bug free. I haven't been bit yet."

...he had. Gavin hated his stupid forgetful mind.

After a moment's hesitation, he just did it. "Fine."

And off came the shirt.

Johnny didn't get the hesitation unless Gavin's body was malformed in some...

Nope, no malformation going on here.

Grinning slyly, Johnny said smartly, "Welcome to Fandom."

He tucked his shirt underneath his arm and said, "Going without a shirt makes it official now?"

Well, at least, he was cooler now. Literally. Fires were hot!

"I'm not sure I'm an expert yet, but I would say we're moving in the right direction," he said, his eyes on Gavin.

Johnny wasn't bothered by the fire, not one single bit.

Since it was dark, any blushing that he might be doing was hidden. Mostly. Or, at least, he hoped it was.

"If you're not an expert yet," he said, grinning a little, "you're probably close."

Ooh, a compliment. Coming from guy or girl, Johnny loved them. He might have preened and drew closer to the fire, which, inadvertently, drew him closer to Gavin. "Hopefully by the end of summer I'll be considered an expert," he said, smiling, "...and is it just me, Gavin, or are you a tad on the shy side this evening?"

"No." Yes. "The other night might've just been a fluke."

"No?" Johnny asked, looking over at him. "And I get that, seeing as I'm talking to a totally differnt Gavin tonight," he smirked.

"I had to do that the other night," he explained. "It's a guy code thing. I'm still learning about that. And I'm not different! Well, except, I was wearing a shirt then."

"It's a guy code thing to be protective, but taking your shirt off is a little," he flattened his hand and tilted it back and forth, "iffy?" Laughing and shaking his head, he went to clamp Gavin on the shouler. "Nope, no different at all."

"See," Gavin said, nodding. "I'm not different. And I took my shirt off because I thought I was being challenged."

"Challenged?" Damn right. "Hey, Gavin, you feel inferior in any way, by all means, put your shirt back on." Johnny joked.

"Come on, loosen up man! We need to have some fun tonight!"

He scowled and said, "I don't feel inferior. And I am loose."

He didn't know how to prove that though but he was loose.

"Yeah, your face totally says so, too," Johnny smirked. "I need a little excitment tonight, here, cause I can't be staying much longer."

"Staying here as in at this party thing?" Gavin asked. "You look pretty comfortable staying here."

He shook his head, "Supposed to be going out later tonight with my boss. Something about hunting for ghosts." He shrugged and grabbed a marshmallow, torching it and blowing on it before he shoved it in his mouth.

"What sort of ghosts?" Gavin said. "Or is it a secret?"

"No secret as far as I know. Just some haunted house apparently with haunted house kind of ghosts," he replied, though he really didn't know. "I don't know how many of us are going."

"Is it safe?" he asked. "For you all, I mean."

Johnny gave Gavin a sly grin, "Safe for me, which means safe for them. I'll keep a look out for any unfriendly ghosts." Johnny didn't believe in ghosts. Which...didn't seem right given the stories he's been told.

"Why, you wanna come hang out with us when we go?"
