Ethics [Monday, March 19, 5th period]

Anakin, wearing his best "don't screw with me today" expression, came into the classroom a few minutes late and slammed the door shut behind him.

His eyes moved immediately towards the area of the classroom where John Crichton normally sat.

The desk was empty.

The look in Anakin's eyes hardened more. "Today we begin our discussion about the seven deadly sins," he said, cloak sweeping out behind him as he paced. "Specifically, wrath, envy and pride."

If Anakin looked like the poster child for wrath at the moment, it had entirely escaped his attention. So had the blood that had dried on his shoulder.

"Pride is traditionally considered the original and most serious of the sins--the one that everything else can be traced back to. Dante--a famous writer on this world--described it as 'love of self perverted to hatred and contempt for one's neighbor.'"

"It's a very common human failing," Anakin continued. "Have you ever fallen for it--considered yourself to be so much smarter or better than your classmates? Or your teachers?" He shrugged. "Or are wrath or envy more your speed? Can you see how pride could lead to the other two vices we're discussing today?"

He waved a hand. "Pair up and talk about it."

Dean kept tossing glances his brother's way as he listened to Anakin's lecture. It was the first time he'd laid eyes on him since he'd thrown him out of his room Saturday.

He didn't know how he felt about the fact that Sammy looked as troubled as he himself felt.

Like he had in magic class, Sam focused intently on his notes, which weren't so much notes today as random doodles designed to keep him from having to look at anyone else.

Jaye, completely unable to not narrate her own life, thank you cafeteria cupcake, says completely out loud, "As I listened to the lecture, I wondered what was up with Anakin. I also decided that pissy is a good look on him, and began thinking the hair was good on him, too. Much better than the braid that I had never understood but always wanted to tug on for no good reason. Maybe during a party at Caritas or something he would have let me, but I'll never know. Perhaps he would grow it back."

Anakin stopped in mid-sentence and stared at her. "Jaye?" he began. What the hell? "Is there a reason you feel compelled to share...that...with the class?"

Arching an eyebrow at the certain...mood of today's lecture, Turtle was mostly sketching out scenarios as to the cause of Anakin's supposed wrath instead of taking notes. Most of which were probably wayyyy off base, but amusing (to her, anyway) all the same.

Valentine decided upon seeing the blood on the new teacher's shoulder that he much preferred Vader. It wasn't that he thought Vader was any less likely so show up with blood all over him, but at least with the mask on, Valentine knew to expect it from him.
Anakin just creeped him out.

Knowing if he paired up with anyone else, he would just spend the entire class watching Sammy anyway, Dean moved over and dropped into the desk beside his brother. "Hey," he said softly.

Blair was still wearing his suit from conflict class, and struggling to get his briefcase open to grab a notebook.

Turtle may have been kind of staring. The hippie suited up not too bad, and she was intrigued. Had he finally turned over to the dark proper side? She poked him with her pencil in the shoulder. "Blair?"

"I looked around for a partner, mentally weeding out anyone I didn't like, and was very glad to see that Sam already had a partner. I would have hated to say what I really thought at the moment, because it wasn't polite. I had very interesting views on things such as wrath and envy, and wished to share my opinions with a partner who didn't suck."

Valentine sat in his desk and cast glanced around the room for a parter who doesn't mind that his mun works soon and won't be around for six hours.
He was a very important man. Why should he exert himself after the weekend?

"Um, teacher like person? I kinda missed class due to a minor alien invasion back home." Marco said mostly honestly.

"Hey." Blair bounced up after class. "I missed last week's class. Sorry about that. I don't really have a note or anything but if you talk to the Somalian government, they'll tell you where I was. They'll also probably swear at you a lot. You don't know Somali, do you?"

Anakin is not in the best of moods today. Sarcasm, backtalking, disruption to class will all result in detention.

Ahhh, just like Vader.
