Anakin, wearing his best "don't screw with me today" expression, came into the classroom a few minutes late and slammed the door shut behind him.

His eyes moved immediately towards the area of the classroom where John Crichton normally sat.

The desk was empty.

The look in Anakin's eyes hardened more. "Today we begin our discussion about the seven deadly sins," he said, cloak sweeping out behind him as he paced. "Specifically, wrath, envy and pride."

If Anakin looked like the poster child for wrath at the moment, it had entirely escaped his attention. So had the blood that had dried on his shoulder.

"Pride is traditionally considered the original and most serious of the sins--the one that everything else can be traced back to. Dante--a famous writer on this world--described it as 'love of self perverted to hatred and contempt for one's neighbor.'"

"It's a very common human failing," Anakin continued. "Have you ever fallen for it--considered yourself to be so much smarter or better than your classmates? Or your teachers?" He shrugged. "Or are wrath or envy more your speed? Can you see how pride could lead to the other two vices we're discussing today?"

He waved a hand. "Pair up and talk about it."

"I looked around for a partner, mentally weeding out anyone I didn't like, and was very glad to see that Sam already had a partner. I would have hated to say what I really thought at the moment, because it wasn't polite. I had very interesting views on things such as wrath and envy, and wished to share my opinions with a partner who didn't suck."

Sam overheard just enough of that for Jaye to earn a bitchface in response.

"I saw the look, as I had been busy glaring, and decided just for that, he was having the 'Cute' retracted from his name on radio, at least for the time being. That would show him."

"Oh no, anything but that," Sam deadpanned. "I live and die by how I'm described on the radio."

"I looked around, and saw that Sam was speaking in response to what I'd said. That's funny, I thought, and wondered if maybe he wasn't a mindreader."

"I'm not a mindreader," he said, giving her a strange look. "At least, I don't think I am."

"I wondered if maybe he was just delusional. 'Maybe you're delusional,' I suggested."

"If I'm delusional, shouldn't I be able to hear other people's thoughts, and not just yours? Maybe you're the one who's delusional," Sam replied.

"That was really kind of possible, but I wasn't going to let him know that. So I dished upon him a retort worth of King Dork. 'I know you are, but what am i?'"

"I see you've been studying the Seely Booth method of retorts," Sam said. "I'm definitely going with the idea that you're delusional."

"He wouldn't be the first. Or last. Or second to last or even tenth to last, but that wasn't about that. 'You're not worth my time right now,' I said with a dismissive flip of my hair."

Sam rolled his eyes, and was gladly dismissed.

Weiss wandered over to Jaye. "Uh, hey. Need a partner?"

"I quickly scanned for any possible discomfort in this situation, but decided it should be fine. 'Sure,' I said. 'How's it hanging?' I was trying to be casual, though everyone seemed to be looking at me strangely."

Weiss had witnessed the whole discussion between Jaye and Anakin, so surprise wasn't on the top of his list, but severe disorientation was still prominent. "I'm good. Busy weekend. You?"

"It was surprising how casual he was being despite other people's reactions, and this was encouraging. 'It was okay,' I told him, trying to not glare at the delusional boy who was no longer cute. 'People are dorks but that's nothing new.'"

"Yeeeeeah. Okay," Weiss said, brow furrowed with weirded out. "So, um. Pride. Wrath. Envy. I witnessed a heaping spoonful of wrath this weekend. How about you?"

"I was curious about that, but wasn't going to ask. 'I want to dish some out myself,' I said, hoping to add some mystery like no one would know what I was talking about."

"The whole Alec thing, huh?" Weiss asked. He dropped his voice so that Sthe Brothers Winchester couldn't hear him. "Kinda makes me want to deck Sam."

"I was so relieved to hear that, I could have hugged him, but Parker may have had me killed for it. I didn't want to die ~~I even have a tag in my journal about that~~, so instead I said, 'Maybe you should.' It might have been wrong of me, but eh."

"I'm pretty sure Parker won't kill you over a hug, Tyler," Weiss said. ~~"And what's with the strikeout? Weird."~~

"I looked at him with wide eyes, wondering how he had understood me."

"Jaye, are you sure you weren't bitten by a Gremlin? You're... being very open."

"'No,' I said, 'I haven't even seen any lately.' Though I should have probably started looking, since everyone was acting really strangely."

Weiss resisted the urge to facepalm. Barely. "Yeah. So how about that wrath in Sam Winchester's face, huh?"
