Anakin, wearing his best "don't screw with me today" expression, came into the classroom a few minutes late and slammed the door shut behind him.

His eyes moved immediately towards the area of the classroom where John Crichton normally sat.

The desk was empty.

The look in Anakin's eyes hardened more. "Today we begin our discussion about the seven deadly sins," he said, cloak sweeping out behind him as he paced. "Specifically, wrath, envy and pride."

If Anakin looked like the poster child for wrath at the moment, it had entirely escaped his attention. So had the blood that had dried on his shoulder.

"Pride is traditionally considered the original and most serious of the sins--the one that everything else can be traced back to. Dante--a famous writer on this world--described it as 'love of self perverted to hatred and contempt for one's neighbor.'"

"It's a very common human failing," Anakin continued. "Have you ever fallen for it--considered yourself to be so much smarter or better than your classmates? Or your teachers?" He shrugged. "Or are wrath or envy more your speed? Can you see how pride could lead to the other two vices we're discussing today?"

He waved a hand. "Pair up and talk about it."

He won't be around long--he wants to head back to the clinic.

"Um, teacher like person? I kinda missed class due to a minor alien invasion back home." Marco said mostly honestly.

Anakin raised an eyebrow. "Minor invasion?" he repeated.

"No one died, lost a limb, or got frown off a cliff by a pissed off goat."

"Pissed off...you know, I don't want to know," Anakin decided. "You missed a class about what you'd consider to be an unforgivable offense." His lips pressed together. "Any thoughts on that?"

"Enslaving another race. Or hey, enslaving anyone, period." Marco replied almost instantly.

Anakin bit his lip and nodded. "Good enough for me," he said. "You're dismissed."

"Hey." Blair bounced up after class. "I missed last week's class. Sorry about that. I don't really have a note or anything but if you talk to the Somalian government, they'll tell you where I was. They'll also probably swear at you a lot. You don't know Somali, do you?"

"I've been meaning to pick it up," Anakin said dryly. "Do I want to know how you got an entire government upset with you?"

"It's really an interesting language with a lot of histo...and you were being sarcastic there, weren't you?" Blair shrugged. "It's a long story that involves my mother, a Somalian jail, a lawyer and my inability to keep my mouth shut."

"I've found duct tape can curb that problem," Anakin advised.

It was a tip he'd picked up from an exasperated Obi-Wan decades ago. ~~Not dirty. Possibly.~~

"Last week's class was on actions you'd consider to be unforgivable. Do you have an example?"

"Duct taping someone's mouth shut seems like it'd be right up there." Blair muttered before considering an answer. "What do you mean, unforgivable actions? Something someone else does that you can't forgive them for or something you'd do that you think is unforgivable? Because there's a difference."

"Most people went with your first interpretation," Anakin said, "but I'd be interested in either answer."

Blair thought for a minute, bouncing idly. "I think that me killing someone would be unforgivable. I know that other people have done this and even people that I care about, but for me to do it would be unforgivable."

"As for other people...not being sorry. That's it. I can forgive anything as long as people are sorry."

Anakin nodded. "Good," he said. "You're dismissed."
