In time-honored Scooby tradition, Dawn skipped class to research whatever was going on with Dean. The irony here, of course, being that the class she was skipping was on how to be a Scooby. Somehow she figured Xander would understand.

She'd had a little luck with the knife, but hadn't been able to decipher the symbols on the blade from the internet. So here she was looking up and down the stacks for the creepy, spooky book section. "Symbols...invisibility spells..."

Dawn and her armful of books went back to one of the tables. She opened the books, beginning with the most general first, taking notes occasionally on a long legal pad.

Rory watched Dawn from behind her desk, and after giving the other girl a moment, went over to where she was working. "Need help finding anything? Or researching?"

Dawn blinked a few times as her eyes focused on Rory instead of the book she'd been reading. "Um, is there anything on specific curses? There's kind of a thing that I need to help fix. Oh, and hi, Rory," she said, finally remembering her manners.

"Hi," Rory said, raising her brows and leaning against the table. "Like, curses in theory, or actual curses themselves? Because the latter is in SC."

She gave Dawn a searching glance. "Is everything okay?"

"Like actual curses," Dawn said, sticking a pencil behind her ponytail holder for safekeeping while she checked her notes. "Probably gypsy or voodoo."

"Not really," Dawn answered sadly. "I just hope it can be fixed."

"Yeah, you're going to need a teacher's note," Rory said apologetically. She tried to think of what could be going on. "Did something happen? Is anyone hurt?"

"I don't know if there's time for that," Dawn said, then fudged the truth a little. "Dean's missing."

Rory blinked. "That's right, I heard that on the radio. But...you know Becky." She rolled her eyes. "What happened? I assume this is a supernatural kind of missing and not just that he decided to go on a little excursion by himself."

Shrugging, Dawn said, "We're not a hundred percent sure. The curse thing is just my best guess. And no, he's not just on a trip."

Rory bit her lip. "Okay, last semester, this guy I know did something stupid and gave everyone superpowers by accident. Maybe something backfired and made Dean invisible?"

Dawn added that possibility to the list, even though she knew it didn't connect to the knife and was probably the wrong direction. "Wonky spell side effects? Not like we'd get those here or anything. It's just Dean though. I can't help thinking that it's somehow aimed at him."

"But why would someone want to curse him? None of the people here are that mean," Rory said.

"I don't know," Dawn said, running her hands up and down her arms.

Sam had to smile when he found Dawn exactly where he hoped and expected she'd be. Having someone he could count on to help and to do research was a new concept, but he was certainly learning exactly how invaluable it made Dawn. "Hey," he said quietly, looking at the scattered books with great appreciation.

"Hey," she said, a bit distracted after her conversation with Rory. She now had three pencils in her hair for safekeeping. "Do you or Dean have any enemies?"

"Enemies?" Sam replied, thinking about that honestly for a moment. "I don't know. I think most of the people and things who would have a reason to dislike us have that reason because we've hunted them down and destroyed them."

"Hmmm," Dawn tapped an eraser off her bottom lip. "You never leave anyone alive? Are there clubs or tribes or groups of these people and things, maybe?" She asked, thinking of how Angel had been cursed by Jenny Calender's ancestors.

Dean, who had got distracted looking at Rory and how she seemed to be more faded than Sammy or Alec, finally made it over to the table. He glanced at Dawn, then did a double take and stared.

"Hey Sam? Does Dawn look all green and glowy to you or is it just me?"

"Well, we have come across pairs and groups of people in the past," Sam admitted to Dawn. "We only kill whatever's causing trouble. Like, if there's a pack, but only one creature's gone wild, that's the one we get."

At Dean's question, Sam took a long glance at Dawn. "Um. That's just you. Dawn looks like she always does."

"Maybe it's someone who wanted revenge," Dawn said, making another note, then raising an eyebrow. "Is that a good thing? And be careful how you answer--I slept on my laptop last night."

"Dean wanted to know if you look green and glowy," Sam explained. "So, unless your laptop is radioactive..."

"Dean?" Dawn looked around quickly. "You found him? Where is he? Why didn't I hear him?"

And then her eyes widened, and she swallowed audibly. "Green and glowy? He...he can see that?"

Sam looked a little guilty as he realized he hadn't filled Dawn in yet. "Yeah I found him, sort of. He didn't disappear really - he's here now, and he can see us and hear us, but not the other way around. Except that I can kind of hear him for some reason we haven't figured out yet."

"And yeah, I guess he--wait, he can see what?" Sam gave Dawn another glance. "You're not actually glowing, I swear."

"We'll get there, Sam," Dawn promised.

"Dean?" Dawn looked around and sighed. "You're not crazy, but it may just be you seeing it right now, though Bridge can see it too, if he looks."

"So... green and glowy is normal?" Dean asked slowly. "Nothing we should be worried about?"
