The Kludge's Guide to the Universe | Dangershop, Wednesday Afternoon (Week 4)

"Now that you've mastered the art of the clever escape, it's time to master the speedy one."

Harper tapped a control, bringing up the empty cells from last week. "After all, breaking out of your cell is only the beginning."

"Your objective today is to make it to the spaceport on the other side of this dangerous, seedy city. You can split up, stay together, try to meet up with other escapees, then beg, bluff, and bribe your way though the city. One caveat though, keep violence to a minimum, not only does it attract attention, attacking your pursuers makes it personal. This goes double for deaths. You kill someone? You fail the exercise, as does everyone you're with at the time."

[ooc: The guards and inhabitants of the city are moddable for the most part since I'm kinda brain dead tonight but there might be a surprise or two.]

[ooc: OCD threads coming are up. Post away!]

Jamie exits out into the street and does his best to blend into the crowd. "Where do we go from here?"

Aeryn's a little cautious to walk outside, not sure of what the weather would be like. If it had been weather like Fandom, this would pretty much have to be over. "Um," she says, and would hug the weather here if she could. "Spaceport. There'd have to be some sort of transportation that way."

Jamie looked around trying to find anything that resembled a spaceport whether that be a sign or building or...

"Okay any ideas on how to get there? Because I'm being the typical male here and I'm refusing to ask for directions."

"Usually they're in a central location," she says. "Head towards the center of the city, keep an eye out for tourists."

Jamie looked around and started heading toward what he thought would be the center of the city. "So what do alien tourists look like," Jamie said in a sotto tone of voice. "Because I'm not seeing any Hawaiian shirts or anything like that.

"Luggage, usually," she says, looking up at the sky as she walks like she's expecting the sun to come out any second. "People who look like they have no idea where they're headed, or are in a rush..."

[identity profile] multi-madrox.livejournal.com 2006-08-02 07:41 pm (UTC)(link)
"So basically we're looking for us but without the luggage," Jamie quipped and then looked up. "Why do you keep looking at the sky?"

"Checking the weather," she says, which is the truth. "Looking for rain." That's not.

"Why? Are you going to melt?" Jamie joked and then elbowed Aeryn and nodded over to two humanoids carrying luggage and wearing loud garish clothing. "What do you think?"

Aeryn nods, casually changing direction to follow them. "My species doesn't melt. Does yours?"

"Not in the rain," Jamie commented trying to see if anyone was following them. "I'm sure there's one mutant out there that can melt themselves into a pile of goo. If there is I haven't met him or her yet."

Jamie watched as the humanoid couple turn the corner and he quickened his pace so as not to lose them. "So what does happen to your species when it gets wet?"

"We get covered in water and have to dry off," she says, still staying casual. Jamie's doing the lookout thing, more than one person doing it would really tip someone off.

From Here (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomhigh/961906.html?thread=51076978#t51076978):

"You've got way too much experience with this," Cameron decided, but he did as she told him and tried to look casual but in a hurry to get to work. He hoped that's how he looked anyway as they headed in to the city.

"Occupational hazard," Sam muttered, matching her stride to his. She saw a few troopers and stopped to look over the merchandise at one of the stalls. Sam squealed with girly happiness in an attempt to catch Cameron's attention.

That definitely got his attention. Cameron almost jumped, thinking the worst as he really wasn't used to Sam squealing. Happy or not. "What?"

"Look casual," Sam said, reaching for his hand. "Pretend to shop."

[identity profile] cameronmitchell.livejournal.com 2006-08-03 02:18 am (UTC)(link)
Casual. Right. Holding hands was normal. Yep.

Cameron looked at whatever Sam was holding. "That looks really lovely, honey." He wondered what it was.

Sam raised an eyebrow at him and mouthed honey?

She held it up against him--it was a men's mud brown linen tunic, but it had nice border embroidery in gold and silver.

[identity profile] cameronmitchell.livejournal.com 2006-08-03 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
He shrugged. She was the one who told him to be casual after all. He tried not to look at the troopers.

When he realised what she was doing, his eyes went wide and he looked down at the dress-thingie. "I'm not sure brown is my colour."

[identity profile] carter-i-am.livejournal.com 2006-08-03 02:29 am (UTC)(link)
"Hmmm, you may be right," she took her time folding it carefully, thanked the merchant, and walked on to the next booth. The guards walked within five feet of them, and she tried not to tense.

"God, I hate my hair sometimes. It's such a giveaway," she said, after they were out of earshot.

[identity profile] cameronmitchell.livejournal.com 2006-08-03 02:33 am (UTC)(link)
Cameron looked up at her hair. "Well, I'm thinking it draws attention for other reasons," he remarked before quickly pretending to check out the jewlery they were displaying.

[identity profile] carter-i-am.livejournal.com 2006-08-03 02:37 am (UTC)(link)
Sam glanced around, "I think it's clear." She made a beeline towards the outskirts of town, walking like she'd had a fight with Cameron--briskly, but keeping an eye out for trouble.

[identity profile] cameronmitchell.livejournal.com 2006-08-03 02:40 am (UTC)(link)
Cameron rolled his eyes as he nearly bumped into a guy. He motioned towards Sam and mouthed 'women' before hurrying after her.

"I'm sorry, I swear that your ankles aren't fat," he said, keeping up appearances.

[identity profile] carter-i-am.livejournal.com 2006-08-03 02:45 am (UTC)(link)
Sam didn't facepalm, but it was a near thing. Amateurs. "Doesn't matter, it's the last time you'll see them, so you won't have to worry about what they look like."

Yeah, she was so teasing him once they were out of this.

Cameron did the sensible thing to do in this instance and pouted.
