Summer Picnic, Main Campfire, Friday afternoon

At lunchtime, the campfire area was set up with blankets, baskets, picnic tables, food, and ant problems. The groundskeeper who brought the ants was later sent home for the rest of the day. It turned out that he didn't really like picnics.

[OOC: I suck and completely forgot about this. Sorry about the relative lateness. It's a sunny and fairly comfortable day. I MOD WEATHER! MWAHAHAHAHAHA!]

Cedric's not too hungry right now so he's content to grab a blanket, lay back and enjoy himself for a little while.

He's smiling a little, enjoying himself.

Jack spotted Cedric on the way to the food and detoured, heading over to him. He flopped down next to him - without waiting to be invited - and grinned. "I feel like I haven't seen you for ages."

"Hi," Cedric says, smiling as well. "And it has been a few days. Have you been busy?"

"Few workshops, catching up on some reading, spending a bit of time with Sam," he rubbed his stomach, which was still a bit sore from where she'd elbowed him, "saying goodbye to Izzy. So, yeah, I guess have been. What about you?"

"Nothing much," he answers, shrugging. Or, attempting to shrug which was difficult in the supine position. "Adjusting to new workshops, adjusting to the cabins again."

"It's summer. It's about being lazy." He nudged Cedric's leg with his elbow. "You're welcome to adjust to the cabins in my alcove, if that would ease the process. I think the plant misses you."

"I think the plant hates me," Cedric replies, nudging back. "I'm thinking it's jealous."

"Nah, it likes you. Or it'd better." He shifted further down the blanket so he could rest his head on Cedric's stomach. "Besides, it has a new friend, so it probably won't pay attention to either of us."

"Maybe we'll make up one day," Cedric says wistfully, glancing down at Jack. "A new friend? Mr. Book will be so jealous."

"A bear. Izzy's bear, actually. She left it with me so I wouldn't get lonely while she was away," he laughed. "I'll introduce you, if you want."

"What if the bear hates me too?" Cedric asks, moving a hand down to brush at the top of Jack's hair. "Inanimate objects versus Cedric. I can see it now."

"It's Izzy's bear," he explained, closing his eyes and relaxing under Cedric's touch. "I don't think it could hate anyone."

"True," he concedes. "How've you been, then? Everything going well?"

"Hey, Cedric." Parker wanders by after grabbing some food, and cocks her head at him, balancing her plate, a drink, a napkin, and a wrist purse. "Mind if I join you for a little while?"

Re: The Blankets

[identity profile] chasingsnitches.livejournal.com 2006-07-14 08:38 pm (UTC)(link)
"Not at all," he says. "Have a seat, please."

Re: The Blankets

Parker carefully folded herself down onto the blanket, and arranged her plate on her knees and the drink in front of her, keeping her eyes open for ants. "Not hungry? Want some chips?"

"No, I'm all right," he says. "But thank you. I managed to remember my breakfast this morning amazingly enough."

Re: The Blankets

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2006-07-14 08:54 pm (UTC)(link)
She laughed and adjusted her sunglasses, bit into a sandwich, and after chewing and swallowing, said, "This *is* my breakfast. I didn't get up 'til eleven. I love days without workshops. Or classes. Did you have any today?"

Re: The Blankets

[identity profile] chasingsnitches.livejournal.com 2006-07-14 08:57 pm (UTC)(link)
"I had one this morning, yes." He pushes himself to a sitting position. "Constant Vigilance with a fellow called the Doctor. No surname. Unusual."

Re: The Blankets

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2006-07-14 09:06 pm (UTC)(link)
"Extremely. He's an alien." Parker looked at him over her sunglasses. "He usedto know Jack pretty well." She frowned. "No, that's not right. Another *version* of him was practically Jack's stepdad. This one's never met this Jack." She rubbed her forehead. "Time travel makes my head hurt."

Re: The Blankets

[identity profile] chasingsnitches.livejournal.com 2006-07-14 09:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Considering he's experienced something similar to time travel-or, at least, time travel knowledge- that doesn't strike him too oddly.

"So, he's no danger to Jack then?"

Re: The Blankets

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2006-07-14 09:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Parker studied Cedric a moment, then said, "Not from what I could tell. Or Sam, either. He seems sane and pleasant, and not too different from the other Doctor. Who was a good guy, even if he did do a fade without any warning." She smiled, toying with a potato chip. "But Jack would be thrilled you were concerned."

Re: The Blankets

[identity profile] chasingsnitches.livejournal.com 2006-07-14 09:28 pm (UTC)(link)
"Well..." He shrugs that off with a smile. "He seems like an interesting teacher. Manic but interesting. I look forward to his class."

Re: The Blankets

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2006-07-14 09:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Parker's not quite that easily deterred. "I hope so. Manic, yes, I got that." She paused. "Jack mentioned that there was trouble for you, back in England, a couple weeks ago. He seemed determined to help you with it."

Re: The Blankets

[identity profile] chasingsnitches.livejournal.com 2006-07-14 09:37 pm (UTC)(link)
"There was...it's complicated," he says quietly. "It could be bad over there, yes."
