Library [06/08]

Rory managed to make it into the library fairly early, dragging the damn book with her as well as her laptop, with a cup of coffee in hand and four wide-eyed, fluffy kittens firmly attached to the legs of her jeans.

The library was open, and would likely remain so for most of the day.

Rory had dragged out all the books she could find on ancient Egypt and magic that weren't in SC.

[You can find out anything pertaining to the plot from your research, but keep it reasonable.]

In case she forgot to send you the email and you're in on the plot. Thread locked to people who know who they are, please.

"Morning, Rory," Dawn yawned and selected a book at random from the pile. Egyptian Curses. Fun. A weetiny kitten poked its head out of the pocket of her jean jacket, while another was on her shoulder batting at her earring. She sat down at one of the tables and started at the table of contents. "So, what're we looking at? Is there a prophecy? Please tell me there's no prophecy."

Deciding to try and deal with the whole situation with Alec like it was just another hunt, Dean got up earlier than usual and headed to the library to do some research.

At the very least he hoped to be able to rule out things that weren't responsible. And maybe to see if the general weirdness of the week -- pudding and coffee and kittens, oh my! -- had anything to do with it or was just Fandom being Fandom.

Plucking a black and white kitten from his shirt before it could fall, Dean walked in and saw Rory in amongst many books. And kittens. "Hey, Rory. You the librarian today?"

Buffy wandered in after having a shower after Wilderness class. "Hi Rory, Dawnie. Evil afoot, huh?" She dropped down in a chair, then jumped right up again, squeaking startled. She turned to look at the chair. Two li'l weetiny kittens looked up at her with huge blue eyes and meowed. "Aww, kittens!"

"Not just today. I'm one of the library aides," she said with a weak smile. "Hi Dean. Can I help you find something?"

"No prophecies, as far as I know," Rory told Dawn. "We're looking for anything relating to this book." She held up the one in question. "Anything on the Book of the Dead is good, though I think this is modified version. I mean, pudding and kittens aren't exactly darkness and blood as far as plagues go."

"Yeah. Where's your section on the paranormal? I'm looking for stuff on waking nightmares, hallucinations, mind attacks, that sorta thing."

The black and white kitten had squirmed out of Dean's hands and was once again trying to climb him like a tree. "And maybe kitten infestations."

Rory raised a brow. "You know about paranormal stuff? Or is this just a new 'yay, Fandom is weird' kind of interest?"

"Fandom is weird, but I've been dealing with weird almost my whole life." Dean grinned. "It's sorta the family business. My dad's a hunter -- demons, evil spirits, curses, shapeshifters, that sorta thing. If it's evil he hunts it down and kills it."

"Maybe we got the Book of the Mostly Dead?" Dawn asked, smiling slightly. "I can't promise anything, but I might be able to translate a word here or there."

Buffy scooped up the kitten and sat down. She poked at a stack of books skeptically. "I'm really more of a doer than a reader..."

"...want to help with something?" she asked hesitantly. "'Cause I kind of have a vested interest in all the stuff going on lately - the nightmares and kittens and pudding. 'Cause it...might be kind of my fault."

Dean looked at her more sharply, an effect that was partially ruined by the kitten that was now perched precariously on his shoulder. "How is it kind of your fault?"

Willow came in after her meeting with Veronica. She had a little kitten peeking out from behind her ponytail. She waved at Rory when she saw her. "Hi, Rory! What's the up?"

Buffy held up one of the little blue eyed kittens for Willow to see. "Kittens! Itty bitty kittens!"

"Clingy kittens," Willow agreed. There was a black and white one peeking out of her backpack now. "Poor little things. I've been trying to feed them."

"I read a thing," she said, feeling very much like she would like to hide under the desk. "And it kind of summmoned, um, plagues. I'm still working out how to stop it, though."

Jamie came in with a yearbook under his arm. "Hi. I need to return this, but I was wondering if I could have a couple of pages xeroxed before I do?"

Dawn rolled her eyes and handed Buffy a book.

"They're cuter than pudding," Rory decided. "Hi, Willow. I did something bad. Did you get my email?"

"The irony isn't lost on me," she replied. "And yes, but why are you Xeroxing a yearbook?"

Dean managed to refrain from rolling his eyes. God save us from people who read from things they don't understand he thought. Aloud though he only asked, "What 'thing' did you read?"
