Library [06/08]

Rory managed to make it into the library fairly early, dragging the damn book with her as well as her laptop, with a cup of coffee in hand and four wide-eyed, fluffy kittens firmly attached to the legs of her jeans.

The library was open, and would likely remain so for most of the day.

"The irony isn't lost on me," she replied. "And yes, but why are you Xeroxing a yearbook?"

"Yeah I know, that's me: Mr. Duplication. It's Rory right?" Jamie asked with a smile. "I just need a couple of pages copied. There's a girl I knew who used to go here and seeing her picture in there kind of freaked me out."

"Yeah, Rory," she said, nodding. "That's kind of weird. Which girl, if I can ask, I mean?"

It was slowly occuring to her that having a guy who could make copies of himself would be useful. And she probably would have said as much if a kitten hadn't pounced onto her shoulder all cutely.

"Kitty Pryde," Jamie said with a little bit of a dark look. "Not the one that went here... probably. But seeing her in a yearbook memorial page was a little much for me."

He then winced and pulled up a pant leg to remove a kitten that had dug his claws into his legs. "Man, what is it with all the kittens today?"

"Yeah, it's...poor Kitty," Rory said softly. The kidden on her shoulder took that to mean it, apparently, as it began to purr and rub against her cheek. "Anyway, yeah, you can totally make copies of it. Machines are over there. And, um, if you're not busy...want to help us research what's up with the kittens, anyway?"

"Being busy isn't really a problem for a guy like me," Jamie said with a raised eyebrow. "You know something about the kittens? I was talking about that with someone this morning. It doesn't have anything to do with the whole pudding and coffee thing, does it?"

Rory nodded. "And we think it's related to the nightmares a few people are having, too," she said. "Um, someone read from a book she shouldn't have - it wasn't clearly labeled as 'OMG DON'T READ ME' or anything, of course, because this someone isn't stupid - and it kind of made the plaguey stuff happen. And we don't know how to stop it."

"Weeeeird," Jamie replied. "I'll be happy to help with what I can. I'm not down with all the magic mojo but I can supply about 8-10 dupes to help with research."

"Oh, that'd be great," Rory said, relieved. She gestured vaguely towards Dawn, Buffy, Willow and Tyler. "They're all researching stuff. I'm pretty sure they can use few extra sets of eyes and hands."

"Great. Give me a minute and I'll join them all."

Five minutes later Jamie has made his copies and heads over to join the research group.
