Summer Shenanigans, Wednesday mid-morning

Worrisomely, the park was empty today aside from a sign that directed everyone to the beach. When they arrived, they would find a huge wooden scaffolding at least 30 feet high (somewhere, an Olypmic platform diving squad was wondering where their stuff had gone) next to the water. In the water was a blue and gold inflatable as long as the scaffolding was high. Further out were ropes marking distance from the inflatable blob.

Everyone have a horrifying mental image of what was going to happen here? Good!

"I have returned after foraging for parts last week," Anakin lied through the megaphone. He'd been a cat. "And we are trying out an all new event! You will climb to the top of the scaffolding and jump down onto the inflatable! This will launch the person at the other end of it into the air! Whoever launches someone the furthest wins! The launchee will also receive points for style before hitting the water."

The points get you nothing. You win nothing. "After you have launched your island mate, you crawl to the launch zone and you get launched by the person behind you. This will be fun."

Possibly only for spectators.

"Come get your rash guards and life jackets, if necessary. Listen for your names!"

Harley could easily not know what was coming, actually! All she was doing was taking Bruce for walkies, having finally picked him up from Cass because... something something normalcy (relatively speaking) and trying to get back into the groove of her swinging solo living.

Or something.

Point was, lady and her hyena stopping to watch the proceedings out of pure curiosity, and nothing more.

Lydia didn't even mean to be here. Lydia had just been going for a walk. She hadn't meant to even go near the beach.

Lydia still couldn't swim.

Belle was rather wary of this entire enterprise but somehow she'd ended up involved yet again.

At least it would be exciting? Maybe? If she didn't die.

"Hunh," Harley said, upon hearing her name get called. She surveyed the whole set-up with more of a critical eye, then scrunched up her face in distaste. "Yeah, I don't think so. I don't swim."

Actually, she couldn't. As in did not know how to, yeah, another one of those.

The way Rey usually put it was that she knew how to not drown. So she wasn't happy but not necessarily worried.

Launching other people sort of sounded like fun though.

For Luma's sake, Eleanor was at least trying to not be too outwardly excited that this week's shenanigans would be relocating them to the beach.

She wasn't doing a very good job, although, admittedly, once she realized the nature of the activity, the excitement was reduced significantly.

But it shouldn't be too bad, just a little time being airborne. She could handle that, especially if she could just stay in the water afterwards...

Stark was side-eyeing Anakin so hard for this as he pulled on his terrible swim shirt (which, honestly, could have been so much worse).

No, Luma didn't know how, but she was absolutely sure of it, and would spend a good deal of her waiting time switching between pouting about it and glaring.

You know who still didn't have Wednesdays Portal Days out of his system, despite Summer being gone for a whole week by now? Yeah. This guy. And getting a portal home for just a day would cost money Jack didn't really want to spare, and...

... well, and then he found himself wandering past Skywalker's latest gauntlet again. At a safe distance, because he knew what get-roped-in-distance was and he was absolutely not stupid enough to breach it, but still.

Ugh. His therapist kept saying he should probably talk to Anakin - not for Anakin's sake, but to resolve some of the remaining mess in his head. Especially a day before talking to that new protege of his about the realities of. Everything.

Ugggh.

He stood on the periphery for a while, waiting for the circus to end.

Only when it finally did, did he start to walk towards Anakin. Force senses set to very vigilant, but still.
