Good morning, everyone! It's time for another summer of Anakin Skywalker Thinks This Teaches Team Building and Also Amuses Himself (Mostly the Second Thing) but "Shenanigans" Is Easier!

The bleachers for viewing were set up in the park backed up to the pond and near the Belthazor Commemorative Divot. Food vendors, remembering how this worked, had arrived with hot dog, popcorn, and rum for the squirrels. And coffee. Just...so much coffee. Huge flatscreens were set up facing the bleachers, which gave people a hint that today's event would not just stay inside the park, and the cameras were trained at...well, ankle height or the sky for now because squirrels and rum.

Anakin and his bullhorn were standing behind a folding table stacked high with brightly patterned shirts and people who had been here before knew that just because the shirts were free, it never, ever meant you wanted to wear them.

"GOOD MORNING!" he boomed through the bullhorn when enough people were gathered. "Welcome to another summer of team building activities!"

He might be waiting for a while if he was expecting cheers, just saying.

"Today, as has become tradition, we shall conduct a relay race around the island to acquaint you newcomers with where things are!" he said. "Please listen as your name is called and then come up for your festive t-shirts. We shall have four teams of eight."

Oh boy, another summer of polyblend fashion nightmares to wear! Aren't you excited?

Meet up with your teammates and assess your odds. Or complain about the shirts. Or both!

Please hold for some epic OCD.

The first two teammates (Tony & Irene, Watts & Jaskier, Steve M. & Sakaki, and Goose & Isabela) will three-legged race from the edge of the park up alllllll of those stairs on Apocalypse Avenue and stop at Surf's Up, where they will get a bellyboard and a shark hat to pass along to the teammate waiting there. Then they get shark hats to wear for themselves, because everyone looks better in these hats.

(What, not like it's gonna clash with the shirts.)

Carrying the bellyboard and wearing the shark hat, the third team member (Liz, Lana, Libby, Alara) runs up Sphinx Street, turns onto Loon Drive and stops at Chilly Boulder.

They must then order and consume a large chocolate milkshake as quickly as possible. Will you get a brain freeze? Oh yeah.

Pass the bellyboard to one team member and the shark hat to another (Ulysses & Hannibal, Vi & Jon, Steph & Clare, and Beaker & Will.)! They will run down Loon Drive and onto Unicorn, stopping at the Trooper Station to do some burpees!

Like, 25 burpees.

Sorry.

Then they run all the way to the docks! Can a Muppet Burpee? Guess we're gonna find out.

Are you wearing a shark hat and paddling via bellyboard from the dock to the causeway parking lot?

Of course you are! At least if you're Guillermo, Wanda, Buck or Stark!

Anakin has also given you life vests and shark-themed water wings, so. Safety first.

The good news? The teams can now ditch the bellyboards and shark hats. The bad news? Your last two teammates (Tahani & Graham, Summer & Rey, Miguel & Tisarwat, and Jo & Jaina) need to run from the causeway over to Fast Eddie's and put on bowling shoes. Then, each carrying a ten pound bowling ball, they have to run (without slipping and killing themselves or each other) down Black Swan Drive (with the steps) and back to the park where their teammates are waiting for them!

Will this go better than last year? Honestly, doubtful.

You don't need to keep the bowling balls, but two of you are still in bowling shoes and two of you are in shark hats. So everyone looks amazing.

Because gloating about it afterwards makes the win the sweetest, right?

"What the hell is wrong with you?!" = very legitimate question.

The shirts have gotten even uglier this year. Welcome to another summer where Amazon thinks I have just the BEST taste.

It was funny, how accustomed to some things people could get. Sakaki couldn't help but figure her sleeplessness these past few days was due to Harry and Hedwig's absence...something about the soft hoots and ruffling feathers of her roommate's owl must have been quite the lullaby that she'd been desperately missing. And since any attempt at a nap was not going well, Sakaki went to the park for the summer thing, sitting in the bleachers and just sort of spacing out in a way that she'd have missed her name being called if not for a squirrel nudging her.

"Ehhh?" she asked, blinking out of her staring. "Nandesuka?"

Slowly, she remembered where she was and what she was supposed to doing, so she stood up almost numbly to go down and collect her shirt and find her teammates.

And then just burst out crying once she saw the shirt.

This shirt was way too much for how exhausted she was right now.

"This is the coolest shirt I've ever owned." Buck immediately swapped his boring-ass shirt for the taco cat one and took a selfie for Eddie. Look how cool it was, Diaz!

Wanda had accepted this would be her fate this summer. And because she was tired from no sleep she kind of thought the shirt was cute?

Which was definitely a sign she needed a nap.

"Oh, this is getting burned after this is over," Tony said, picking at the fabric of the shirt.

"Aww, it's not that ugly," Steve said with a little grin as he yanked off his first shirt and put on this one.

Graham was starting to wonder what he had to do to get himself a curse like Gray's, just so he could actually get some sleep! But, apparently, his excitement for being here was still keeping him all abuzz and restless. The fumes were running strong still, and he at least had a nice, easy, no hassle way to get to park, riding his way in on Triumph, and he forgot hoe tired he was when he saw the set-up.

"Zounds, Triumph!" he gushed in awe. "Look at all this! It's almost like a tournament! Maybe it is a tournament! You think they'll be a Test of Speed?"

He sure hoped so. Triumph hadn't been struggling to sleep like he had, so he was far better prepared for something like this than Mr. Stifling A Yawn on his back over here.

"It looks extremely flammable," Tahani said, plucking at it desolately. "Who do I talk to about the emotional trauma this is inflicting on me?"

It was just a bit too cold for this, in Wanda's opinion, but the cold water did perk her up some! At least enough to come in first in her haste to get the hell out of the water.

"What," Clare said, staring blankly at the hat and the board.

"Meep meep meep meep," Beaker said, snagging the shark hat and striking a pose.

"I will NOT," Tahani said, staring at the bowling shoes she was supposed to be wearing.

Oh, this was an exciting development from Isabela's previous summers here!

She eagerly put her shirt on...which wouldn't fasten over her, let's just go with assets. "How do I look?"

Irene was doing her best not to fall asleep in the stands. She'd turned up at the tail end of summer last year, and thus once again was prepared enough to wear trousers and a pair of flats to this thing -- but was anyone ever really prepared?

And more importantly: she was also in no danger of falling asleep, drowsy as she felt.
