Good morning, everyone! It's time for another summer of Anakin Skywalker Thinks This Teaches Team Building and Also Amuses Himself (Mostly the Second Thing) but "Shenanigans" Is Easier!

The bleachers for viewing were set up in the park backed up to the pond and near the Belthazor Commemorative Divot. Food vendors, remembering how this worked, had arrived with hot dog, popcorn, and rum for the squirrels. Huge flatscreens were set up facing the bleachers, which gave people a hint that today's event would not just stay inside the park, and the cameras were trained at...well, ankle height or the sky for now because squirrels and rum.

Anakin and his bullhorn were standing behind a folding table stacked high with brightly patterned shirts and people who had been here before knew that just because the shirts were free, it never, ever meant you wanted to wear them.

"GOOD MORNING!" he boomed through the bullhorn when enough people were gathered. Just behind the table, invisible because of the piles of shirts, Beaker meeped cheerfully. "Welcome to another summer of team building activities!"

He might be waiting for a while if he was expecting cheers, just saying.

"Today, as has become tradition, we shall conduct a relay race around the island to acquaint you newcomers with where things are!" he said. "Please listen as your name is called and then come up for your festive t-shirts. We shall have three teams of eight."

After everyone had gotten their shirts and teams settled, Anakin reached for the bullhorn again. "Today, we are going without powers if you have any!" he yelled, which still not necessary with a bullhorn, Anakin. "First two team members to the starting line, the rest of you handwavily find your stations around the island! Ready, steady--go!"

Of course Barry was there. And he brought snacks because this was a totally snack worthy event.

Granted they were kale chips and he was mostly feeding those to a porg.

Stark had been dragged out of bed by very insistent squirrels this morning and definitely needed a snack and a beverage before facing whatever horrors Anakin was going to subject everyone to this morning.

Alara had enjoyed this last year, so she decided to come by the park and see what it would be like this time round.

And once he was there he really should have gotten a feeling that this was absolutely the sort of thing he'd get signed up for.

Travis showed up thinking he'd get another training session in with Probie. She'd nearly mastered the art of sitting! Sort of!

Well, at least she could get some practice in watching whatever this event was.

Ben had taken the two kids with him to the park today and had now convinced them this was going to be even better than the playground (a tough sell, but he made it work with popcorn and lemonade. His son was already sticky, which was a special skill).

"Those shirts aren't so bad!" he said. "Still glad I'm not wearing one."

Oh boy, another summer of polyblend fashion nightmares to wear! Aren't you excited!

Meet up with your teammates and assess your odds. Or complain about the shirts. Or both!

This would be fun, right? Sure, it was kind of disappointing that she couldn't use her powers, but it would be a nice way to get to know people. Even if Wanda wasn't the most athletic person on the planet.

She could have done without the ugly shirt though.

Summer honestly would have been disappointed if she hadn't been called and she looked at her shirt with horror and delight.

"This is disgusting," she said, holding it arms length. "I love it."

The rest she kind of had. Unless she has to stick her feet in a bucket of anything.

"Where does he even find these? And why?"

At least she was kind of athletic, even without using her powers? Hopefully her thing would involve something she was good at, like running! On land!

She had no idea what was going to follow next. It didn't really matter because she was TEAM CAT.

She'd put on the shirt in a moment, she just needed a second to cling to it in silent, stoic, stone-faced elation.

Belle hadn't the faintest idea what she'd gotten herself into by walking this way his morning. Aside from the very... colorful... shirt she was now donning over her own clothing.

Malia held up the shirt she was handed. It was at least two sizes too big for her, but she could make that work. Maybe.

"What if we're not that good at deciding whether to use our powers or not yet?"

On the one hand: Bob could touch the shirt! A thing he could touch!

On the other hand: That shirt.

He would definitely put it on. Inside-out in vain hope of deadening that color.

“Goddess bless,” Elli laughed ruefully as she studied her new shirt. “I think they’re worse than last year’s!”

She’d still wear it though. It was for the game which meant it was just being a good sport to put it on.

The first two teammates (Sakaki & Miles, Enola & Nina, and Hannibal & Stark) will three-legged race from the edge of the park up alllllll of those stairs on Apocalypse Avenue and stop at Surf's Up, where they will get a bellyboard and a shark hat to pass along to the teammate waiting there.
