Summer Shenanigans, Wednesday, June 24, 2020

Today the shenanigans were inside the Danger Room because even Anakin couldn't source enough strawberry Jello powder to make a dent on the water surrounding the island.

The unwilling victims people showing up would find themselves looking down onto a huge rec room decorated for a child's birthday, complete with streamers, balloons, and a massive pinata (easily the size of a chair) swinging from the ceiling.

And the floor was entirely covered in red liquidy-goo..stuff...because Anakin wasn't actually going to cover everything in lava.

"Welcome to the Floor is Lava!" Anakin's voice boomed out to the audience. "...my son Christopher helped this week. You will work in teams of three to get from one end of the room to the other without falling into the extremely realistic lava...stuff. The fastest team will win a lava lamp but there are prizes for all! Listen for your names. Oh, and no powers, please."

Or sit around and eat fruit gummies, popcorn, cupcake, and goldfish crackers because Christopher had assisted with snacks, too.

"Right." Duke looked around the room, then at his teammates. ". . . You know, I actually like our chances on this one."

Yeah, Liam was married to- and therefore kept up with- someone with the moniker the Arboreal Priestess, he’d be fine.

“Should be easy enough,” he agreed. “So... where do you think we should start?” Liam was voting for the route that would take them swinging on the curtains, personally. A little more risky, but potentially faster.

Mae was extremely good at jumping from perch to perch.

She was also very good at misjudging her jumps and plunging to her doom.

"DIBS ON THE PINATA!"

Yeah. Astrid wished she had even an ounce of the confidence Mae had. "Dibs on...the rocking horse?" Sonce they were apparently cling dibs.

Shunsui had made sure to slip off his haori and set it aside, because he was absolutely going to hop onto that first table and finding himself oh so gracefully falling into the lava, reaching out as he slowly descended into it.

"Oh, no ♥!" he sang out. "What a terrible and unexpected tragedy! Avenge my unfortunate death, my dear and lovely teammates ♥ ♥ ♥!"

"Oh my god," said Summer, not even wanting to look back from where she'd landed on the couch
"You so did that on purpose!"

As if she wasn't made at you enough right now, Mr. Sleep With Summer's Friends from Home!

"Okay..." Kitty said, "this doesn't look so bad."

This was a lie.

Elli looked a bit doubtful.

"At least it's not real lava?" she said, choosing to try for optimism.

"This way looks the easiest," Rey decided, nodding towards the end table.

Let's be real, swinging on curtains would be fun.

Prompto followed Rey's eyes, glad to focus on something that wasn't how Nina still wasn't back, and nodded. "Agreed," he said. "I think quick is going to be key, too
. Don't.give.gravity a chance to pull you in, you know?"

"I mean," Amaya offered lightly, after doing a very similar scan of the room as a whole, "it could be worse? I don't know exactly how, mind you, except maybe if there were maybe lava sharks or goat men involved, but the point is, it could be worse."

"I'm not quite sure," said Sidon, brightly, flexing a little and stretching a bit to get himself ready for some spectacular leaping, "if anyone can predict what awaits us for these activities! But I am ready! Let's go, Team Seven! We can do it! I believe in you!"

Who didn't love a good pep talk to really get into the spirit of things?

"I think flying?" Steve replied, squinting at the room around them. "Maybe being able to just think yourself at the exit or something."
