Summer Shenanigans, Wednesday, June 24, 2020

Today the shenanigans were inside the Danger Room because even Anakin couldn't source enough strawberry Jello powder to make a dent on the water surrounding the island.

The unwilling victims people showing up would find themselves looking down onto a huge rec room decorated for a child's birthday, complete with streamers, balloons, and a massive pinata (easily the size of a chair) swinging from the ceiling.

And the floor was entirely covered in red liquidy-goo..stuff...because Anakin wasn't actually going to cover everything in lava.

"Welcome to the Floor is Lava!" Anakin's voice boomed out to the audience. "...my son Christopher helped this week. You will work in teams of three to get from one end of the room to the other without falling into the extremely realistic lava...stuff. The fastest team will win a lava lamp but there are prizes for all! Listen for your names. Oh, and no powers, please."

Or sit around and eat fruit gummies, popcorn, cupcake, and goldfish crackers because Christopher had assisted with snacks, too.

"This is a very important good point," Kitty agreed. "Which end tables do you think?"

"I'm not very sporty," she confessed. "I'd rather not try swinging on curtains?"

It was going to end poorly for them anyway but. Well.

"Do you think the curtains would even hold us?" Stark asked. He thought he could make a jump or two but the curtains were a concern. Swinging was not something he was particularly good at.

Depth perception was also not something he was particularly good at. That wouldn't be a problem when judging jumps, right?

"One at a time, I think the curtains would be okay," Kitty said. "We could try different routes, too."

Elli wasn't really sure the curtains would hold a full-grown man but...

At least that wasn't really her problem to worry about?

"Can we?" she wondered. "Or switch between them as we go?"

"He didn't say we can't, which means it's worth a shot," said the teacher.

"I don't think there are many rules," Stark said, nodding in agreement. "Besides staying out of the lava."

"I will avoid the curtains. I think."

"All right, let's try this," Kitty said, trying to kind of taking a giant step onto the end table, which was successful since she had long legs.

And then she could stand on the edge to try and jump onto the ottoman-

"Ow," she said, rubbing her chin.

That wasn't avvery encouraging start, Kitty!

"Are you alright?" Stark asked. He was eyeing the end table warily. He could hop over there, right? Without banging his face (or mask) on anything?

"Yep! It's just not soft!" Kitty said, making her way back to her feet so she could jump to the sofa.

"Good. Well, not good that is wasn't soft. Good you're fine."

Stark just hoped he would also be fine after this jump onto the end table. And he was. He'd slid a bit but regained his balance and was now standing on the end table and not covered in lava at this time.

He was also trying to judge the distance to the ottoman so he didn't smash his own face. Or miss it entirely.

"Thanks!"

It wasn't actually far to the shelves, so Kitty stood on the arm of the couch and leaned forward to grab the top of them...

And couldn't get a grip, at which point she fell into the lava. Oops.
stykera: (emo tear!)

Farewell, Kitty.

Stark winced. "Sorry," he called out. But he was hopeful he could learn from Kitty's mistakes. He'd made it to the ottoman (which he knew wasn't soft, thanks Kitty) and was heading for the couch.

Alas, the depth perception issue finally caught up with him. Getting to the couch had seemed easy. But he misjudged the distance, getting one foot on the edge of the cushions and then slipping off and into the lava.
