Ungulate Yoga, Tuesday, period 1

After spending pretty much all day yesterday in bed, after getting back from Ibiza, Duke was looking forward to a nice, ordinary day. Or, you know, as close to one as you could get in Fandom. So when he saw the zebras hanging out in the clearing for class, he didn't even blink.

"At least you all have hooves. Just try not to trample my students, alright?"

The zebras grazed idly, ignoring him.

"Let's get right to warming up please," Duke said when the students arrived. "Today we're going to try out some bound poses." He very specifically did not look at Danny if he was there when he said that. "A bound pose is any pose where your hands are connected, and you twist through your shoulders and torso. They require a fair amount of flexibility, so I don't want to see anyone pushing themselves too hard, here. You need a prop, you use it. I've got pillows, bolsters, blocks and straps up here. Remember: a good stretch means no sharp pains. If it hurts, stop."

One of the zebras came over to try to eat Duke's hair. He closed his eyes and sighed.

"Also there are zebras. So . . . yeah."

At least he wasn't stoned this week.

Yeah, while ignoring a particularly curious zebra, Danny was just gonna judge the hell out of this particular lesson. Judge it until he couldn't judge it anymore.

It could be a while.

Bound poses and zebras!

Try your hand at bound locust pose, or maybe a nice bound forward fold. Or get fancy and give noose pose, one-legged king pigeon pose, or the pose dedicated to the sage Marichi I a shot. Because who doesn't want to give their internal organs a "healthy squeeze"?

Karolina had missed last week's class due to her own school stuff on the mainland, so her attempt at making a habit out of her yoga practice wasn't going super great, just yet.

But this was a new week! And she'd learned from her past goat-related mistakes enough to have put her hair into two braids for this class. But that... didn't really seem to be stopping the zebras from experimentally trying to nibble at them while she did her best with the bound locust pose.

Obviously, Rosa went into this knowing she'd have no difficulty with the poses, and she'd found that the real challenge didn't even have to do with the various ungulates to add to the variety and spice of it all.

No, the real challenge for Rosa was definitely going to be focusing on her moves enough that she wasn't just going through the motions while attempting to eavesdrop on Crocker and Williams every week. It's not that she cared or anything, but, dammit, it was like how you couldn't just turn away from a car crash or a murder scene...you just sort of had to look out of sick, morbid curiosity.

So any zebra-related frustrations weren't so much for them getting in her way or trying ot eat her hair, because, again, she did yoga regularly with a very eager puppy, but rather whenever one of them seemed to drift into her line of hearing.

Part of Freya was wondering if some of those poses were just part of how a human body could naturally move, because she wasn't quite sure her body was going to be able to get many of those down. That, of course, didn't mean she wouldn't at least try to the best of her ability, which was likely made easier by her adoption of more yoga-appropriate clothing, but was made significantly more difficult by the zebras.

Because if all of you thought having hair being a problem, imagine having hair and a tail to worry about!

...Freya was definitely going to need to get a new bow, and that was probably not very healthy for that zebra to have eaten.

Stark was not the most flexible but he was giving the forward fold a try. He did not bend that much. Was he mostly just looking at the zebras sort of upside down? Maybe he was. Zebras were neat.

In what was getting to be something of a regular thing, Liam showed up near the end of the class with a coffee for Verity and also one for Duke.

... Also a container with a few pieces of jalebi that he'd managed to save from last night's dinner (he was so stopping by JGoB and T&C for cheese and cake on the way home, shush).

Look, Duke had clearly been having a rough time of it the last couple weeks and... Liam worried, okay.

"Hey." Slight smile as he held out the coffee.

“Hey, man.” Duke managed a faint smile of his own in return. “I promise not to let the zebras trample your wife.”

Because that was clearly why Liam was here, yes.

"I appreciate it," Liam snickered. Not that Verity wasn't perfectly capable of keeping herself un-trampled, but Liam could appreciate an attempt at banter when he saw one, okay?

Danny held back until the rest of the class cleared out and it was just, you know, the zebras. Which wasn't weird at all. Zebras.

Duke shot him a bit of side eye, as though looking for an ulterior motive.

Because he was.

“Peachy. You?”

His ulterior motive was to make sure Duke didn't have a nervous breakdown in the middle of town. It was very insidious.

"Oh yeah, just love having my gun pointed at me," he replied with all the dry sarcasm he could. "No. What is wrong with you?"

He’d also spent the weekend drunk in Spain and had a fresh shark tattoo on his arm.

So, Karolina had missed last week's class, but she had not missed several things on last week's radio.

And she wouldn't have been herself if she hadn't made a point of checking in on Duke just a little, so... She came over, towards the end of class but in a way that didn't conflict with Liam or Danny obvs.

Did it help part of Karolina's motivation was professional, since she was the guidance counselor and according to radio, he'd been high while teaching a class with kids in it?

... That was still like 20% of it, though. Maybe 25? The rest was just Karolina's natural giving-a-damn about people.

She huffed out a soft, almost sheepish chuckle. "Thanks. I thought I was picking something the zebras might not mess with a lot, but I wasn't entirely right."
