Anakin had learned from leaving just a note for the students. Today, he waited until everyone was seated before his voice boomed ominously through the classroom. "Under your desk, one of you will find an X. The rest of you have the goal of discovering who that person is and either protecting them or turning them over to authorities when they arrive in 30 minutes."

There was a long pause. "Student X, you know what you did."

Nothing, but that was part of the point.

Okay. Not her first time getting busted. The point was to deflect and deny. Two things Eleanor was an expert at.

"Clearly it's Nina."

Was Nina even in her class? Didn't matter. She's sticking to it.

Vette actually looked almost disappointed that she wasn't the one guilty of whatever was being accused, here. But she shrugged and settled in to lean back against a wall, arms crossed in front of herself and smirking.

Hey, maybe she could look guilty enough that people would assume it was her anyway. That would be way more fun than being innocent.

"Oh! I know the answer to this one!" Illyana lit up enthusiastically. "We call it 'fuck the police!'"

Illyana'd spent the last year living in NYC. She wasn't a narc.

She pointed at the wall, and a glowing portal appeared. "Who wants to go get ice cream?"

Oooh, that was even better than Vette's plan of just faking guilty to mess with people.

"I can't say no to ice cream," she chimed in, perking up a little. "Thinking the place in town, here?"

Vette was also no big fan of the cops, it was true.

"Fork yeah!" Eleanor said happily. "I'm totally down with that."

And then she saw the whole portal thing happen.

"Shirt. Is that for-"

Then she just shrugged.

"Fork it. Let's go. Just one thing."

She scribbled a note and left it for the teacher.

"Okay. Let's motor."

Okuyasu stood up and toppled over his desk. "Yeah, fuck the police and let's get ice cream!"

Lana was torn. On the one hand...ice cream! And on the other hand...class!

She was curious how this would play out, though.

"I think I'll stay for now. Meet you all later?"

"I think it beats sitting around a classroom when there's a good chance the person we're supposed to pick out is getting ice cream," Tisarwat reasoned with a faint grin, even though she was definitely just in it for the portal, she had to know what going through it was like.

Sabine was not so much into cooperating with authorities, and let's be real, whoever was in trouble wasn't sticking around to be told on anyway and she wasn't going to be here for the consequences of that.

"Guess I'm getting ice cream."

Del looked under her desk. No X. Lots of gum though! She peeled one of the gums off and popped it in her mouth.

Tisarwat checked under her desk; no X. She glanced around the room curiously, wondering if she could figure out who had it or almost make things a little more interesting by making it almost seem as if she had it, but then there were portals.

And ice cream, but Tisarwat wasn't as interested in that part. And it looked like a good handful of the class was going to go, too. She wouldn't go so far as to say she'd just do what the majority of the class did, but it would be much more interesting on the other side of those portals than sticking around and playing Point the Finger with only half the class.

Especially since, if the person who had the X had any sort of brains, they'd go with the portals, too.

Lana might not be about to play by the rules, but she still valued knowing as much as she could about what was going on.

She looked under every desk to see where the X was.

Well, that made a bit of difference; it was, after all, her duty to protect Eleanor.

Confront the Authorities!

Which are Anakin and Fosse, the security troll.

"We're here for the student," Anakin said, sweeping into the room. "Turn them over, please."

When Anakin got back, he would find a note left for him on his desk that simply read:

"Totally Nina."

Eleanor would be no where near the classroom.

There most definitely was no Illyana when Anakin and Fosse came in.

Nor was there any sign of her Stepping Disc, or really that she'd been there at all. Total mystery.

He still wasn't sure who the X had been for, but he'd learned not to trust things in this class right away.
