The Library is Open (03/24)

Rory situated herself behind the desk and became deeply absorbed in a well-worn copy of To Kill a Mockingbird.

[*cries at LJ* So sorry for the delay, people. For some reason, LJ hates my OCD and kept eating my comments. Hence why there is no lunchtime in the library today, unless I manage to fix it somehow.]

His breath didn't catch at her smile. Really. Not at all.

He grinned back. "Was he? Professor Skeeter gave us a free period today, told us to work on research. So here I am. Research--" he gave her a questioning look, "-inating?"

"Examples of different writing styles," he said. He smiled. "I have examples of 'colossally boring' from home, but I'm not sure that's a writing style or a way of life."

He ran a hand through his hair. "I was in here last period working on Tactics homework, too, but you were in class, right?"

Oooh. Glitter.

Anakin caught it before it hit the ground, swirling it around in the air.

"Making something sparkly?" he asked.

Anakin gestured with his hand, sending the glitter into a trash can. "Cuteness?" he asked.

Anakin smiled. "Good to hear," he said. He looked over at where Parker was spinning and singing to herself. "Although it's a little scary to watch..."

Anakin nodded. "Still. Hope it wears off. I've never been that strange about things," he said with a complete lack of awareness about how weird he can be.

"I just mentioned how I promised you that I'd explain the arms," Peter said. "For the record, it's a fashion statement. I was tired of being just another guy with two arms."

Anakin laughed. "A very bold statement. The barber at the Temple has four arms. He says he needs that many to keep a handle on squirming younglings. You could have a career in the haircare industry if you'd like."

"Hair is just a recurring theme this period, isn't it?" Peter asked.

Anakin nodded his head at Rory. "She tell you about the wallaby?" He laughed. "These things only happen to her, I swear."

"And anteaters cut hair. I don't know. I think she's insane, personally," Peter said.

Anakin stopped himself from saying, "but she's cute."

Barely.

He snickered. "I don't think she's insane. Just a little, um, touched."

Anakin didn't turn from his conversation with Peter to stop the pen.

It just hovered a few inches away from his head, mocking Rory.

If a pen could waggle in a mocking-type way, of course.

"And with that, I'm off. I have to get ready for a date," Peter said. "Have a good night, guys."
