The Library is Open (03/24)

Rory situated herself behind the desk and became deeply absorbed in a well-worn copy of To Kill a Mockingbird.

[*cries at LJ* So sorry for the delay, people. For some reason, LJ hates my OCD and kept eating my comments. Hence why there is no lunchtime in the library today, unless I manage to fix it somehow.]

"Yup, art," Rory nodded. The movement caused a somewhat alarming amount of glitter to fall out of her hair.

Oooh. Glitter.

Anakin caught it before it hit the ground, swirling it around in the air.

"Making something sparkly?" he asked.

"Sort of. We were doing installation art. I bounced around on a ball for half the period, throwing glitter around with Parker."

She inclined her head towards the other girl. "She's gleeful over cuteness."

Anakin gestured with his hand, sending the glitter into a trash can. "Cuteness?" he asked.

"You know Jarod? The guy you met awhile back? He and Parker finally got their act together," Rory said, beaming.

Anakin smiled. "Good to hear," he said. He looked over at where Parker was spinning and singing to herself. "Although it's a little scary to watch..."

"I thought she was intoxicated," Rory said solemnly. "Which, I guess she is, to a degree. But I meant in a drunkinated or drugginated way."

Anakin nodded. "Still. Hope it wears off. I've never been that strange about things," he said with a complete lack of awareness about how weird he can be.

Rory just raised an eyebrow at him.

"What?"

"Yes, you have been that strange. Occasionally moreso," she said affectionately.

"I'm not strange," Anakin said, pouting. "I'm quirky."

"Sure, 'quirky,'" Rory replied with a fond smile. "Quirky, weird, odd...."

"Hmph."

Rory smiled sweetly and grabbed a piece of paper.

Strange in a very endearing way.

Anakin certainly didn't draw a small happy face on the piece of paper.

Nope. Because that would be doofy.

Rory definitely didn't draw a happy face next to that one and give it long hair.

Because that would be silly.

Anakin didn't add a Padawan braid and spiked hair to the happy face he didn't draw.

Because that's ridiculous.

Rory didn't add a little stick body to the happy face she hadn't drawn.

Because really. That's just absurd.

Anakin certain didn't put a body onto his completely nonexistant happy face.

Or having it holding hands with the other happy face.

Because a guy's gotta have some sense of pride.

Rory definitely did not draw little hearts above the nonexistant happy stick figures.

Because really, who does that?

Anakin didn't give her a goofy smile to see that.

Then he remembered his conversation with Angel.

Need to talk to you about someone, he wrote, Who knows about this.

He didn't draw a line up to the stick figures. Because they weren't there, obviously.

Rory's eyes went wide, and she felt her stomach drop.

An awful lot of people did know about them at that point. And...Anakin didn't know about several of them. Oops.

Who? she scrawled, her cursive as neat as ever in spite of her sudden anxiety.

Angel.

Rory exhaled a little in relief, and nodded.

My room tonight?
