Library, 1/31

Well-armed with coffee and muffins from her trip to the Perk, Angela sets up camp behind the collections desk. Idly, she wonders where the Librarian is.

In between bursts of library work, she's trying to read some Flannery O'Connor short stories. Yet, somehow, she can't keep her mind on the words.

But she is there to help with all your library needs.

Angela is trying to read. It's not going so well.

Chapter 24. Jade and Frykin have made up, the talisman is theirs, and they sail off to terrorize ~~the Caribbean~~ the Gulf of Mexico. Also, Jade is pregnant. Zero smells sequel.

Angela sits in shock for about five minutes after Belthazor leaves before turning to Zero. "I think Belthazor-Cole-person just asked me on, like, a date?"

Zero stops giggling at the flowery writing. "I think he did. Isn't he livin' with Phoebe?"

"They broke up, like, last week, I think? Phoebe was talking about it in class."

She buries her face in her hands. "She's going to kill me, isn't she?"

"No. 'Course not. She's not the threatenin' sort." Zero turned the page. "That's his schtick."

"I know," Angela moans. "He caught me off-balance and I just could not say no. I figure it's better he likes me, anyhow."

"It's just lunch. Right?"

"'Course it is. Jade's gonna knife the first mate in his sleep before this is over, I'm sure of it..." Zero peeped over the book. "Angela, do you have a thing for dangerous men?"

Angela almost chokes at the question. "Do I have a ... No. No! I mean, I don't think so... I mean, come on! I'm going out with Broots on Thursday. Broots is so not dangerous. Serously."

She buries her face in her hands. "Um. Maybe?"

Rory finally made an appearance with coffee of her own and her laptop under her arm.

"Hi," she said, taking a seat.

"Hi," Angela says. Her head is still in her arms. Finally, she looks up.

"Um, I need to talk to you someplace that isn't here. Walk with me? I don't think the Librarian is in his office..."

Rory nodded. "Sure. Is this about studying?" she asked as they made their way to the office.

"You could say that," Angela says evasively as she opens the door to the mostly-empty office and ushers Rory inside, shutting the door after her. "It's mostly about studying, in fact."

Rory arched a brow."Everything okay?"

"Not especially," Angela answers with a sigh.

"Two things. First, did you hear what Marty's supposed to do Friday? And second ... Belthazor asked me out and I said yes and I don't know why."

Rory blinked. "Okay, no on the first one, and secondly...are you out of your mind?"

"See, that's why I knew I could talk to you. You're so open-minded," Angela says. Then: "I know. I know what he is. He just asked me to have lunch, and ... I don't know. I didn't want to piss off someone who could zap me with a fireball, and he was standing there, and ... I said yes."

"And the really fun part, about Marty? Marty is supposed to keep him distracted during study group. Knock him out with a tranquilizer gun, if he can."

"I don't know. I'm a little freaked out."

"Hey, Angela," Jack says casually. "How's it going? Is Parker around? I wanted to check with her on something."

"Hey, Jack. I haven't seen her since before lunch. She has a bunch of classes, so she doesn't always come in Tuesday afternoons."

She gestures to Rory and Zero. "Anything any of us could help you with?"

Jack flashes a grin at her. "It's kind of a sneaky thing. I overheard Angel and Cam last night, and my ~~Spidey-sense is tingly~~ curiousity is aroused. They seem to be plotting something. And not that they're enemies or anything, but Cam and Angel as a duo of sneak is not exactly a pairing I'd imagined."

"Ah," Angela says, flushing. "That's interesting. I haven't heard about anything Angel and Cameron are planning. Sorry."

She manages to look innocent, almost. After all, technically it's not just Cam and Angel...

Jack notes her flush. Unless she's been having interesting dreams about Angel and Cam, there's something going on here. "No problem," Jack says easily. "I figured if anyone could ferret it out, it would be Parker. Or she could just laugh her ass off at me for being suspicious. Let her know I'm looking for her if you see her, okay?"

"Absolutely. I need to call her anyhow."

Jack grins again. "I appreciate it. Thanks, Angela. How's your hand?"

Angela smiled ruefully at her still-bandaged left hand. "It's been better, but ... you know. I'll live."

"I was impressed you didn't get frostbite from running around shirtless."
