Monster attack

Shots can still be heard down in the town. The troopers seem to be all tied up down there. Which is why it might be disconcerting to anyone watching out the windows to see figures begin rising out of the snow on the lawn of the school. More are moving out of the trees also.

They begin making their way toward the buildings.

[[OOC: If people choose to leave the building to fight, please organize yourselves into groups (preferably in the gym thread) and post your location in the subject line. This will make it a lot easier for me to keep track of everything.]]

Snow monsters don't speak at all, so it stands to reason that they don't speak Spanish. They might interpret this as something arcane and mildly sinister, though.

An icicle goes flying toward Nadia; if she doesn't duck out of the way quickly enough, it might nick her in the arm.

Or the icicle might be cut out of the air.

Walter can cut bullets into pieces, an icicle is cake.

"Leave her alone, you overambitious ice cream cone!"

It does indeed nick her arm. She curses in three languages and glares at the snow creatures.

If she had heat vision, they'd totally be done for.

She doesn't, though. She's probably the one who's done for. So she drops into a defensive stance and wishes she had better gloves.

Must have been shards from Walter not acting fast enough.

"Sorry!"

Another icicle whizzes through the air, this time in Walter's direction.

Walter doesn't bother showing off. The Alfred Lesson is still with him. Instead he just steps aside, allowing the icicle to pass harmlessly by.

Nadia shrugs. "I've had worse. At least it wasn't the whole icicle!" Her arm is bleeding sluggishly, but nothing extreme.

It's at this point that, seemingly completely at random, the snow monsters line up and start doing a bizarre rendition of a Broadway chorus line dance.

Just for a few seconds. Then they pull out icicle knives and do an overly showy, choreographred routine with those.

From her vantage point on the ground (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomhigh/572795.html?thread=27474555#t27474555), Pippi thinks they may be doing West Side Story.

Unfortunately, she's to busy gasping for air to inform the others.

[personal profile] fh_extras 2006-01-29 01:38 am (UTC)(link)
If snow monsters could sing, Pippi might hear them singing, "Breeze it, buzz it, easy does it, turn off the juice, boy! Go, man, go, but not like a yo-yo schoolboy! Just play it cool, boy, real cool!"

But snow monsters can't sing. So they're not.

But they would.

If Pippi could hear them singing, she would know that she was right and not change her mind to think perhaps they are attempting a re-enactment of Beat It or Bad...

But she can't... So she does.

Is she also still gasping for air?

Pretty much yeah.

She rolls over and holds her toarch up out of the snow, but keeps trying to catch her breath.

Victor, from his high vantage point, finally noticed Pippi.

"Pippi! he yelled.

Nadia follows his gaze, and keeping an eye on the strangely acting snow monsters, she edges towards Pippi.

And really, it's kinda sad that she now knows how snow monsters ought to behave.

"I'm okay," she finally manages to gasp out and staggers to her feet.

"Just not used to that is all."

Victor was stunned. If anything could knock down the world's strongest girl, maybe retreat was a good idea.

Nadia tilted her head, confused. "They, um . . . . They don't seem to be attacking any more."

Which would, of course, be when a last salvo of icicle daggers went flying at the group from the still-dancing chorus line of snow creatures.

Re: Outside the clinic

Walter joined her and looked around. "I don't think it's over, but we could use this time to get inside."

With the adrenaline and endorphins wearing off, he's starting to really feel his wrist.

And not feel his bare fingers.

"Let's get Pippi inside. They had medical care set up in the gym last night."

Nadia's eyes went very, very wide. "DOWN!" She dropped, but not before an icicle from the chorus line monsters caught her in the shoulder.

Had she not been dropping, it might have caught her somewhere much more important to her continued survival.

[identity profile] anole-x.livejournal.com 2006-01-29 02:29 am (UTC)(link)
"Watch out!" Victor yelled, leaping in front of Nadia and whipping out his tongue to try and deflect the icicles.

One, two, three were swatted away, before a fourth one ripped through the sticky appendage, severing it.

Viotor cried out in pain, and cried out again as he took an icicle in the shoulder.

Nadia grabbed Victor and pulled his uninjured arm over her shoulder, keeping them both ducked down low behind Pippi's snow fort wall. "We need to get out of here now!"

"Victor!"

Cursing himself for relaxing, Walter spun around and dealt with the next icicle barrage, sending shards of ice flying as they were cut out of the air until Walter mastered deflecting them without shattering them.

"Get down and watch your eyes!"

"Pippi! I need help for Victor and Nadia!"

Nadia stares. She shakes her head. She stares some more. "Okay, I can't decide if I hate this school, or love it." She took the opportunity to slide sidways and try to get further away from the snow monsters.

"What. The. Fuck?"

Walter would like to say he wasn't transfixed but the choreography, but that would be a lie.

The knives, however, snap him out of it.

"I vote strategic withdrawal and rearming."

In the midst of the battle, and despite the fact that one of the fuckers just made his cheek bleed, Victor couldn't help but laugh.
