Monster attack

Shots can still be heard down in the town. The troopers seem to be all tied up down there. Which is why it might be disconcerting to anyone watching out the windows to see figures begin rising out of the snow on the lawn of the school. More are moving out of the trees also.

They begin making their way toward the buildings.

Walter joined her and looked around. "I don't think it's over, but we could use this time to get inside."

With the adrenaline and endorphins wearing off, he's starting to really feel his wrist.

And not feel his bare fingers.

"Let's get Pippi inside. They had medical care set up in the gym last night."

Nadia's eyes went very, very wide. "DOWN!" She dropped, but not before an icicle from the chorus line monsters caught her in the shoulder.

Had she not been dropping, it might have caught her somewhere much more important to her continued survival.

"Watch out!" Victor yelled, leaping in front of Nadia and whipping out his tongue to try and deflect the icicles.

One, two, three were swatted away, before a fourth one ripped through the sticky appendage, severing it.

Viotor cried out in pain, and cried out again as he took an icicle in the shoulder.

Nadia grabbed Victor and pulled his uninjured arm over her shoulder, keeping them both ducked down low behind Pippi's snow fort wall. "We need to get out of here now!"

Luckily for our intrepid adventurers, the snow monsters were by this point too caught up in the spirit of their now improvised dancing to do much more in the way of pursuit.

There might be a few last snowballs flung halfheartedly in their direction, but only as part of the dance routine. Really.

"Victor!"

Cursing himself for relaxing, Walter spun around and dealt with the next icicle barrage, sending shards of ice flying as they were cut out of the air until Walter mastered deflecting them without shattering them.

"Get down and watch your eyes!"

"Pippi! I need help for Victor and Nadia!"

Nadia kept a wary eye on the snow monsters as she pulled Victor towards the door to the clinic. If she could get it open, she might be able to bandage them up a bit. . . .

"You okay, Victor?" Yeah, dumb question, but she'd just seen the poor kid's tongue get severed. She wanted something resembling a response so she knew he wasn't getting shocky.

"Nadia? Can you pick locks?"

Walter glanced up from Victor and casually cut through the lock.

"Come on."

Pippi went in to make sure there weren't any stray snow creatures that had made their way in.

Nadia raised an eyebrow. "That'll work, too," Now was so not the time to complain about show-offs. Damn, but Walter would have been useful in Buenos Aires.

She pulled Victor inside after Pippi. She took a quick look around, then set Victor down on one of the chairs. She pulled her coat and sweatshirt off, ripping the sweatshirt and pressing one of the pieces around the icicle in Victor's shoulder, careful not to pull it out or nudge it too much, and put gentle pressure on the wound.

She didn't know much about tongues, but stab wounds she had experience with.

And the icicle in her own shoulder? That could wait.

"Someone get some bandages. And some disinfectant."

Nadia didn't worry about asking why Pippi was headed Gymwards. The icicles in her shoulder and Victor's were melting, which meant the wounds were starting to bleed more. She tore more strips off her sweatshirt and pulled her coat tighter around her. Not that these two would care that she was topless. . . . She was, however, getting very cold.

She used the strips to prop up the icicle in Victor's shoulder a little bit better, so it wouldn't move around too much and tied them off so she wouldn't have to hold them on. She put herself level with Victor's eyes. "Is your tongue going to be okay for a bit? I don't know what to do about that."

As much as Walter wanted to be with Victor, he chose to stand watch at the door he'd just disabled by destroying its lock.

The snowmen might be gone; they might not. He'd already been wrong once and see the cost.

His tongue finally healed, but there was still blod. He didn't want to spit on the clinic floor, so he grimaced and swallowed.

"Fuck..." he gasped.

If Victor could talk, he'd be streaming so many curses that Barbossa would blush. As it was, he sufficed for spitting out blood into the snow.

Fuck, it hurt. He could feel his tongue swell in his mouth as his mutant power activated and it repaired itself, but it still fucking hurt! His shoulder was worse, and he winced as the icicle dug into his flesh as he was moved.

Walter helped Nadia move Victor (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomhigh/572795.html?thread=27542651#t27542651) to the clinic door.

He knelt next to his boyfriend and divided his attention between Victor and the snowmen, which seemed to be done attacking.

"Don't try to talk. Just nod if you're in there." He didn't bother asking if he was okay. That was a pretty dim question. Conscious and able to communicate was a good start.
