Detention: January 28th

The Tick entered the Danger Shop, carrying some coffees and with Lockheed trailing behind. The shop had been programmed to look just like his classroom because he was prepared to inflict the deepest punishment he could think to inflict upon a person; he was going to lecture them today.

As the students filed in, The Tick pointed them towards the sign-in sheet.

Samuel Throgmorten Anders
Archibald Kennedy
Alphonse Elric
Edward Elric
Togusa

Charles Kawalsky

Once everyone was in and seated, he began to speak.

"Hello, students. You kids have either earned - or in your case, Togusa, had the bad luck to be randomly selected - your time here today. I have coffee, notebooks, and pens for you today. I'm going to lecture you this morning, and then after lunch, you'll be expected to write about what you heard. I'd suggest taking good notes so your essays shine."

[OOC: During the lectures take notes, pass notes (although you will get caught at a certain point), ask questions afterwards, whatever. Lockheed may mock you. There will be a short essay at the end of detention. And the fact that there are no threads after Lunch right now? Means absolutely nothing, really. As for timeframe... well, who can predict these things, really? You'll know when it's over.]

Looking cranky yet oddly well-rested, Anders signs in.

Archie signs in and sits as far across the room from Anders as possible.

Alphonse signed in, sniveling and tired. He probably should've thought about it more before playing in the snow during such early hours.

Anders nods and, from what Ed had told him, knows that the Tick is talking about the Elrics. He's pretty much mainlining his coffee, and doodling little stick figures in the margins of his notes. They seem to include a lot of decapitated heads with funny-looking hats. But largely they just look like half-random scribbles, because it's hard to get stick figures to really look gory.

He is actually writing down notes, though:

Hydrants -- arodynamic?
Superheros throw building pieces at bad guys here, it's not just in the movies back home
If I break a table while wearing a superhero outfit, does that make it okay?

Re: Lecture 1: Destruction of Property

[identity profile] section9-togusa.livejournal.com 2006-01-28 05:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Togusa is nodding at the correct times, but has downloaded songs to keep away the earworm of Iron Butterfly. He now is a walking Ipod.

He's also writing notes down.

Building destruction is okay. How the hell do you toss them? Perhaps a demolition test that includes a timed attack on a building by using a mini tank? Check with tachikoma to see what it thinks about this.

Throwing stuff at bad guys is fine, check out different types of projectiles to use. Also clarify the definition of "Bad Guy"

Alphonse wanted to protest that it wasn't like they intened to blow up a room-- Far from it. They did anyway, so he kept his mouth shut.

Re: Lecture 1: Destruction of Property

[identity profile] actingltcrumpet.livejournal.com 2006-01-28 06:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Archie's notes might read like this:

Superheroism and property destruction apparently go hand in hand
Is Anders evil?
Property destruction is acceptable when you are the one being thrown into a building
If I goad Anders into throwing me into a building, will I get off scot-free while he gets punished?

[identity profile] alchemic-bean.livejournal.com 2006-01-28 07:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Edwards notes are filled, not surprisingly, withing variations of the array he and Alphonse had used last weekend. He's more concerned with making sure that the array was stable than listening to the 'not destroying property' part of the lecture.

He looked up at one point. Did he really hear-? Fire hydrants. Huh. He wrote that one down, if only for the mental image of chucking a fire hydrant at Scar. That, of course, caused a snicker to escape.

Kawalsky paid attention only because it was The Tick. You just had to listen to a big guy in a blue suit when he spoke to you.

Get Tick's help for more heavy lifting/breaking stuff.
Breaking stuff on own is bad.
Blowing stuff up? Don't get caught.

Re: Lecture 2: Respecting Others

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2006-01-28 06:05 pm (UTC)(link)
A big guy with a zipper for a neck? A man-eating cow? Anders looks highly disturbed by the fact that the Tick's talking about this so matter-of-factly.

His notes read:
It's okay that it's impossible to respect Kennedy
Does that mean Kennedy's evil? He could be. Or just weird. Maybe both
He could just be a jerk
No beating him up in public
Where can I go where there won't be cameras?

Re: Lecture 2: Respecting Others

[identity profile] actingltcrumpet.livejournal.com 2006-01-28 06:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Archie sees the look on Anders's face and can't help feeling incredibly smug about the fact that he's actually taking this lecture far more in stride. After all, he's already used to the Tick's lecturing style, and you just don't make it through a semester of Criminal Justice without becoming accustomed to this sort of thing.

His notes:

Obviously I'm not obligated to respect the overgrown idiot, no matter what the Dean says
He's likely stupid enough to completely miss out on subtle biting insults
Talking things through with Anders is futile due to his inability to hold a coherent conversation, so that option is out
Mocking authority figures to their face is, of course, rude. But pushing incompetent ones down the hatchway should be perfectly acceptable, damn it.

Re: Lecture 2: Respecting Others

[identity profile] section9-togusa.livejournal.com 2006-01-28 07:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Why is this guy going on about respect for others? Did he think he was speaking to a bunch of animals? Togusa kept writing and occansionally bobbing his head. He could get used to this faint music coming through his head.

Respect others. Right. But Aramaki does look like an ape. So we call him "ape face". As for villians, you have to protect people that are looking out for you, so if a villian as this guy calls them is attacking, I'm not going to give him a card with my name on it while trying to avoid gunfire. Respect is earned, not freely given.

[identity profile] alchemic-bean.livejournal.com 2006-01-28 07:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Don't mock authority figures to their face? Edward snorts at that, then yawns. Dammit, these late nights are really starting to get to him.

Re: Lecture 3: Karma

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2006-01-28 07:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Anders takes no notes on this lecture, because he's wondering who Karma is.

He then starts doing hand and wrist warmup exercises, because hand cramps would be Bad. With a capital letter, even, if he but knew it.

Re: Lunch (Noon)

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2006-01-28 08:43 pm (UTC)(link)
"Whoa. Cool." Having forgotten to eat breakfast this morning, Anders settles himself into a booth and orders a T-bone steak and eggs, plus a tall glass of milk. Glaring in Archie's general direction, he digs into the steak hungrily.

The door to the Danger Shop flung open, and a grotesque two-head snow monster came shambling in, stick arms waving for warmflesh goodies. It had a very pert carrot nose.

Re: Sign Out

[identity profile] section9-togusa.livejournal.com 2006-01-28 10:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Tachikoma wriggled back and forth to get the ice off. Growling, Togusa took a look at the students, then figured that an unarmed Tachikoma was not going to do much good.

Avoiding the fireballs that were going around, Togusa made the descion to try and find ammo for the mini tank, and get some fast. If one was in here, then there were probably more outside. The tank rolled out quickly, on a search for ammunition.

Plus, he was out of detention.
