Announcement and Refugee Hosting in The Gym, Friday Evening

The P.A. crackles to life.

"We shall be opening our doors to the poor, powerless townsfolk. They are to gather in the gym. Volunteers to help organize blankets, bedding, food, and etcetera would be very welcome."

Smith then walks down to the gym, props open the doors, and walks away. This was going to be a mess, and he felt ignoring it would be the best method to deal with it, rather than letting his head explode. Again.

[ooc: Huzzah! Townies can come to this post for their safety and warmth! Screening is disabled! Students and Teachers are welcome to organize something... but as it's an emergency, we hath not actually organized the refugee effort! Organize! Be Swift! But above all, interact and have fun!]

As the Drop Off table takes things in and organizes, Kiki starts asking what people need.

There are blankets, pillows, some towels, soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo...

Food is at another table (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomhigh/570218.html?thread=26738282#t26738282) but you can get plastic cups just for water here. There are some band-aids, but medical attention and first aid is to the left (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomhigh/570218.html?thread=26741354#t26741354).

Step up if you need something, and Kiki can check for other things that have been brought in.

Togusa walks up. "Have some gloves and a muffler?"

"I do!" Kiki rumages in a box beside the table and pulls out a pair of gloves (dark green) and a wool scarf (bright red tartan).

"Will these do?" she asks.

"Sure will!" Togusa said, grabbing them. "Thanks, Kiki. I owe you one." He took the gloves and the scarf and went to see about other things.

"No worries. Freebies all around tonight," she grins, waving as he headed off.

Lana comes over to where Kiki is standing behind the table. "Hey. I'm thinking Caritas is out for tonight, huh?" she says with a smile.

"Looks like!" Kiki sighs with a rueful smile. "I was going to call you, but I got to working on this here. It's too bad - well, Lorne has set the band up in the DangerShop, so people have some entertainment, but Jessica's working the tea, and I'm here, so it looks like even that isn't feasible."

"Well, maybe if things settle down later we can sneak over there for a while. If not... another time." Lana smiles at her.

"Absolutely! I have a feeling there will be plenty in the way of entertainment tonight - people will go stir-crazy otherwise."

"Real or created, I bet there will be. I just hope there aren't any problems with all these people shut up in one space." Lana looked thoughtful and maybe a touch worried.

"That's a good point - but we do have security here..." Kiki muses. "I hope people behave. At least we can go hide in our rooms if things start getting rowdy."

"Very true. Though I offered up my room figuring I could stay with Shep if someone needed the space." Lana rolled her eyes. "Though with my luck, he'll give up his, too, and *I'll* end up sleeping down here!" She grinned.

Ivanova steps up to the table with a basket of chocolates on her hip and a small origami crane fluttering around her head. "Hey, Kiki," she says with a smile. "How're you holding up?"

"Hi, fine! How about you?" Kiki looks up at the origami crane with amusement. "Now that I do have to ask about. Origami cranes I've done, but I've never thought to make them fly around."

"I'm doing just groovy," Ivanova said with barely a smile. She rolls her eyes upwards to follow the path of the swan as it fluttered around her head like a small moon. "Tonks made him fly and he seems to have grown quite attached. I couldn't just leave him in the store, all alone." She held out the basket of chocolates and sweets. "Candy? Usually I'd say to keep your spirits up, but Kiki, I don't think your spirits ever drop lower than the cheeriest among us at our best."

Kiki chuckles. "Well, every once in a while. And yes, chocolate does wonders for that!" She gratefully takes a chocolate truffle and pops it in her mouth. "I'm going to have to ask Tonks how to do that spell - it's so cute!"

"It is, isn't it?" At first the thing had been amusing, then a little annoying, but it was really starting to grow on her. Maybe she'd keep it. It was a very low-maintenance pet. "I have no idea how long the spell will last, though. I haven't seen Tonks yet, and I'm getting a bit worried. I hope she's alright wherever she's holed up."

"She's not here?" Kiki, worried, glances around the crowded room, although she knows it's probably futile. "I hope she's okay... Tonks is smart. I'm sure she's just fine." Kiki nods firmly.

"Yeah," Ivanova smiles, but her eyes still broadcast her worry. "Take a few more chocolates. If you need me, just yell. I've already got Blair screaming 'STELLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!' if he needs my attention."

Susan, doing the rounds of the gym, ends up at the Distribution table. "Hi. Is there anything I can help with here? handing stuff out, bringing it in? Crowd control? Can I get you some tea?" She looks bright and bouncy, if a little directionless.

"Hello, Susan," smiles Kiki. "If you want to help man the desk, that'd be great. I just had some tea over with Jessica, but thank you, very much! Things seem to be dying down...it's not as hectic as it was before."

"Nifty," says Susan brightly, and slides behind the table. "I hate just sitting around while things happen. i always want to do something."

"I know what you mean," Kiki says. "Let's see - we've got blankets and pillows there, hats, mittens, scarves and gloves here, and in these two boxes are toileties," she explains. "That's the grand tour, I believe!"

"And then the food is over there, right?" She waves a hand in the direction of the food-y corner of the room. "And doctors and medical stuff over there." She grins and fiddles with a pink bobble hat with ear flaps. "Do we know what's being done about beds? Is everyone getting a place up in the dorms, or are some people staying down here int he gym?"

"I'm not sure," Kiki says thoughtfully. "I've offered up the spare bed in my room - well, both now - there's going to be a small slumber party on the 4th floor common room, if you want to join us."
