Professor Chaucer's Office Hours, Monday

Professor Chaucer is sitting behind his desk, feet kicked up on the edge, staring out the window. He has a pocket watch which he keeps turning over in his hands. He doesn't look to be in a terribly good mood, although he'll probably talk to you if you bother him. The door to the office is closed, so you'll need to knock or be rude and barge in.

She walks throught the adjoining door and flops on the couch, glaring at him, but smiling.

"I'm still so mad at you Geoff. So not cool, man."

Geoff looks up at the strange person who has just invaded his office without knocking, raising an eyebrow but giving her a tentative smile.

"My sincere apologies, my lady. Would you care to be kind enough to enlighten me as to what I've done to draw your ire?"

She rolls her eyes, hard. "You shoved me in the closet...and then you and Ten forgot me! What the hell, man? That sucked."

Geoff turns his chair around and takes a closer look. "CJ? What the hell... What happened?"

"You haven't heard?" She doesn't look at all malicious. "Haven't you talked to Ten?"

Phoebe saw the door was shut, but she had told CJ that she's find people to help her, so maybe Geoff knew something about swords.

She knocked lightly.

Sighing inwardly, Geoff calls out toward the door, "It's unlocked."

He continues playing with his watch and looking out the window at the rain. Which isn't really helping his mood any.

Phoebe hears the difference in Geoff's tone. She pokes her head in. "Geoff? I can come back some other time. I didn't mean to bother you."

"Phoebe-- no, come on in." Geoff drops his feet down off the desk and turns his chair to face her. "I'm sorry. Just in something of a dark mood today. I'm glad to see you're feeling better. What I can do for you?"

There is a knock on his door.

Geoff considers ignoring the knock, but responsibility gets the better of him and after a minute he calls, "It's unlocked."

A teenage boy, who looks slightly sulky and slightly familiar, comes in. "Took you long enough."

Luckily, Geoff will have has already encountered Teenager!CJ, so this doesn't startle him quite as much as it normally would. He raises his eyebrows, though, just because it is a little on the disturbing side.

"Ten, I'm guessing? Sorry, I was hoping whomever it was would go away. Not having a very good day today. What can I do for you?"

The boy doesn't even attempt to hide an eyeroll. "I don't do the going away thing, Geoff. You know that. God. Anyway...what's got your knickers in a twist?"

He pauses, then looks like he's not sure where the hell that came from. "Sorry."

After Ten

He hadn't had a chance to talk to Geoff during the class, and that wan't really the place for it anyway, so he hung around after the class, under the guise of looking for a book to borrow. He wasn't going to interfere with the students who might need to talk to the professor, but once they all scattered, he went to Geoff's office door.

"You look like a man in need of a cold beer."

Geoff turned his head to look over his shoulder and give House a grim smile.

"Hey, House. Yeah, that's...pretty much what I've been planning, actually. Just waiting for office hours to be over with. You look a little tired yourself."

"Just had a long day." House shrugged. "Wilson decided to stip the exam rooms in the clinic. He does that every couple months. Cleans from one side to the other. I'm exhausted just watcihng him do it."

He might mention that he talked to Susan. Maybe. Later. "And then, this class I'm taking? Western Lit. So much work." He clicked his tongue and shook ihs head, grinning.

"Yeah, I hear the teachers here are really horrible. Boring lectures and mountains of homework."

His smile widens a little, but his voice sounds tired.

"You on your way home?"

"Yeah." House nods. "Just thought I'd stpo by. I'd tempt you with cold beer, but all I've got is a bottle of Scotch and some whiskey."

"Scotch and whiskey sound good, if you're serious about the tempting. Either way, I'll walk you out if you don't mind. I think I'm ready to abandon this place anyway."

Geoff stands and slips the watch into his pocket, then pulls on his coat.

"Is there a grocery nearby? I could always stop and get beer..."
