Professor Chaucer's Office Hours, Monday

Professor Chaucer is sitting behind his desk, feet kicked up on the edge, staring out the window. He has a pocket watch which he keeps turning over in his hands. He doesn't look to be in a terribly good mood, although he'll probably talk to you if you bother him. The door to the office is closed, so you'll need to knock or be rude and barge in.

There is a knock on his door.

Geoff considers ignoring the knock, but responsibility gets the better of him and after a minute he calls, "It's unlocked."

A teenage boy, who looks slightly sulky and slightly familiar, comes in. "Took you long enough."

Luckily, Geoff ~~will have~~ has already encountered Teenager!CJ, so this doesn't startle him quite as much as it normally would. He raises his eyebrows, though, just because it is a little on the disturbing side.

"Ten, I'm guessing? Sorry, I was hoping whomever it was would go away. Not having a very good day today. What can I do for you?"

The boy doesn't even attempt to hide an eyeroll. "I don't do the going away thing, Geoff. You know that. God. Anyway...what's got your knickers in a twist?"

He pauses, then looks like he's not sure where the hell that came from. "Sorry."

Geoff looks as though he's refraining from saying something, and nods instead.

"It's all right, Ten. I'm guessing things are a little...strange for you and CJ right now. By the way, I hope she's not still mad about the thing with the closet."

He pauses, and runs a hand through his hair, then turns to look back out the window. "Loz and his brothers left town. Early this morning."

"No, she's too busy eating really bad food and bouncing off the walls. I don't see why she's so bloody happy about this whole thing. It SUCKS." There's righteous teenage anger in the last statement. "I mean, I didn't even ever look like this, AND I look like a dork! Not to mention I'm randy all the time and..." He realises who he's talking to and blushes.

"Sorry. Anyway." A pause, then his expression falters and he looks saddened. "They did? Oh shit...CJ...you too...you must be really...yeah." He moves closer to Geoff's desk and puts a hand on his shoulder, then realises that this must seem really weird to him, and awkwardly pats it instead.

"Yeah, I suppose CJ's pretty upset about it too, isn't she?" He turns his head back to Ten and gives a little smile.

"Thanks, Ten. I'll be fine, it isn't the first time." Realizing how bitter that probably sounds, Geoff adds, "This town seems to sort of swallow up people, doesn't it? I am really sorry about what's happened to you and CJ. I'd guess from the way things usually happen around here, though, that it probably won't last? Maybe you should make the most of it -- go out and do all the things you didn't get to do because you were never 'like this'?"

Ten nods and perches on the edge of Geoff's desk. "I WAS a teenager, Geoff. I just didn't look like this. And it was a hell of a long time ago." A slow smirk. "Dude. Besides, I was a big rebel. Once I turned my hair blue just in time for Midwinter, and I cut classes all the time. I did all that then, why do I need to bother now? Though the chocolate was good last night. And the..." His voice cracks. "Never mind."

Trying hard not to smile, Geoff looks down at the pocketwatch for a moment, although when he speaks there's an amused tone in his voice. "Well, it sounds like you enjoyed being a rebel, and if it's been that long...can't hurt to brush up, can it? You could always dye your hair again -- if nothing else, it might give Adam a scare."

This time, when he looks up, there is a bit of a grin on his face.

"I would, if I could do it and still command respect from my students." He shrugs and brushes some of Geoff's hair from his face. "'Sides, I'd have to bleach it, unlike some people. Lucky. I was blond once." A slight scowl and he fingers his own hair. "Though maybe...I know, I could be ginger!"

He's really excited about this concept. Really excited, almost too much.

Never let it be said that Geoff isn't one to encourage mischief. "I think that would like good, Ten," he says, his grin growing just a bit. "Ginger would suit you. And you'd match CJ. Unless you can convince her to dye her hair blue."

"Geoff!" He looks him in the eye, very excited. "I always wanted to be ginger, but CJ would look shite with blue. but that's okay! Why did I never think of this before?! You're brilliant!" And he gives him a big kiss on the lips.

Then he realises what he's done and looks down, blushing a violent shade of red. "Sorry."

She walks throught the adjoining door and flops on the couch, glaring at him, but smiling.

"I'm still so mad at you Geoff. So not cool, man."

{{and yeah, I'm sure she'll just confuse you by the time this is done with her teen hormones as to whether or not she's still really mad.}}

Laughing, Geoff pulls Ten into a warm hug and kisses his cheek. "Don't apologize, Ten. It's a little weird, I'll admit, but nothing I can't handle. Just...come see me when you're back to normal?"

He smiles. "And Ten? Thanks for coming by today."

Geoff looks up at the strange person who has just invaded his office without knocking, raising an eyebrow but giving her a tentative smile.

"My sincere apologies, my lady. Would you care to be kind enough to enlighten me as to what I've done to draw your ire?"

She rolls her eyes, hard. "You shoved me in the closet...and then you and Ten forgot me! What the hell, man? That sucked."

"I'm sorry, I've never..."

Geoff turns his chair around and takes a closer look. "CJ? What the hell... What happened?"

"You haven't heard?" She doesn't look at all malicious. "Haven't you talked to Ten?"

"No...I haven't seen Ten since the, um, thing with closet. Which I am, by the way, very sorry about. Not that I put you in there, because you both deserved it. But I really didn't know you'd gotten stuck in there. I assumed Ten would let you back out -- I suppose we really didn't plan it out very well."

He gives her a sheepish smile, and then a look of understanding appears on his face. "Wait a minute -- the radio said something last night...about that cursed locker. So you and Ten are...younger? That's...inconvenient."

Phoebe saw the door was shut, but she had told CJ that she's find people to help her, so maybe Geoff knew something about swords.

She knocked lightly.

Sighing inwardly, Geoff calls out toward the door, "It's unlocked."

He continues playing with his watch and looking out the window at the rain. Which isn't really helping his mood any.

Phoebe hears the difference in Geoff's tone. She pokes her head in. "Geoff? I can come back some other time. I didn't mean to bother you."
