Professor Chaucer's Office Hours, Monday

Professor Chaucer is sitting behind his desk, feet kicked up on the edge, staring out the window. He has a pocket watch which he keeps turning over in his hands. He doesn't look to be in a terribly good mood, although he'll probably talk to you if you bother him. The door to the office is closed, so you'll need to knock or be rude and barge in.

"Poems and coffee. Wow...go me."she says flatly, really trying to stifle her grin. "I think I've got a better idea. You? Are going to be my captive for a day. No arguments."

"Your captive? Why do I think that sounds more frightening than it ought to?" Geoff asks, with a sly grin. "And you used to like my poetry."

"Oh, I like your poetry, but you're like...old. That's kinda creepy, don'tcha think?" she completely disregards his trepidation because he really really really should be scared.

"I'm not that old," Geoff objects. "But yes, possibly it's a little creepy. Or, at least it's supposed to be creepy. So I promise not to write you any love poems until you're back to yourself again. Which reminds me...have you talked to Adam yet?"

"No. Why?" she reaches in her pocket and pulls out a package of gummi worms and starts chewing on them while she sprawls out on the couch.

"Well...don't you think he might be a little surprised if he happens to run into you? Or, on the other hand, maybe it would be best to just avoid him until you're back to normal."

Geoff eyes the gummi worms with suspicious curiosity.

"Why?" she asks with a worm wriggling between her lips as she oh so indelicately chews it up.

"Because it might be a little weird for him to see you this way, considering your relationship with him?"

Geoff reaches out and snags one of the gummi worms, popping it into his mouth and then spitting it back out. "That's disgusting, CJ!"

[AARGH!]

"So? He won't freak...I don't think. I mean, I'm already way younger than him anyhow, right?" Grinning, she shoves two more in her mouth, chews them up, then opens her mouth, "and that's what disgusting looks like."

Geoff can't help but laugh.

"I'd accuse you of acting like a kid, except that I have feeling you'd do that anyway. And as for Adam...I don't think the age difference is so much an issue as the fact that you're underage, at least in this time and place. That might make a difference to him. Like you said, I'm old, right? So that would make you seem pretty young."

"Yeah, but he loves me. You don't even know, Geoff. Just..."she looks suddenly and irrationally irritated, "...just shut up, ok? I mean, Gaaaahd. He'll be cool. He will!"

Geoff's eyebrows go up and he holds out his hands. "I'm sorry. You're right, it's none of my business at all. From what I can tell, he's like Ten -- I'm sure he's seen a lot more of the world than I have. I'm sure he'll be fine."

"Well of course he will! Like, who do you think you are? You're all kissy then you ignore me...you confuse me lots Geoff. Jeez, whatever!" She stands up and stomps back into her office, slamming the door behind her...hard.

((No. I never did this to my mother ever. Nope.))

Geoff stares wide-eyed at the door for a moment, then shakes his head a little and turns back toward the window.

It's possible he might mutter something that sounds suspiciously like 'Women', under his breath, and he shakes his head again.

[*laughs* Between CJ and Ten today, Geoff's head is about to spin right off!]
