Club Fair, the gym, Friday after classes

After leaving her classes, Jaye heads to the gym to start setting things up. To say she's disgruntled would be putting it mildly. She's practically datgruntled, too.

Lucky for her, Muppet chickens are easily bribeable, and they help shove tables into place and stick up signs for each one.

There are tables set up throughout the gym, each with a sign taped to the front with the name of the club. Student sponsors should probably be behind it if they want to sell their club. On each table is a clipboard to use when you sign up, but otherwise, you have all that space to put stuff on display or whatever.

Jaye sends the chickens to do their thing (and it's not her fault if a couple stick around to watch the show) takes a seat behind the table nearest to the door to do her thing. If you're rude, you might get thwapped with a clipboard.

All new clubs have a thread. Drop off a registration form with Jaye, and then go find your table and sell it.

All students have to either have a job or sign up for a club. Therefore, go find something. IF YOU DON'T SIGN UP, YOU ARE NOT CONSIDERED A MEMBER. So do so.]

Nadia was sort of slouching around the room, just looking at the tables and the clubs. She spotted Rory's and frowned.

"Ducklings? Baby ducks? I don't get it."

"Basically DUCKLINGS is an organization that finds community service opportunities for those who want them. Key word is 'want,'" Rory said. "So if you don't really think the do-gooding itself is your schtick, we'll pass it on to someone else, and you get to do research. Make sense?"

"Okay, but why is it called 'ducklings'? Does the word mean something else to Americans, like brownies or something?" Nadia's careful to keep her tone from getting too confused, lest it be interpretted as scathing. She honestly wonders if maybe her English isn't up to the task of figuring out soemthing that should be obvious.

Nadia nodded. It took her a second to remember what an "acronym" was. "An acronym for what?" She looked at the sign "Dogs under castle keep like investigating nosy gray socks?" She smiled back.

"Depends on which part of the club you're interested in. I'm going to be doing research - y'know, finding stuff for other people to do if they're interested. Because I'm not so much with having spare time," she smiled. "There are tons of opportunities out there. And a lot of people just don't know where to look. Make sense?"
