Club Fair, the gym, Friday after classes

After leaving her classes, Jaye heads to the gym to start setting things up. To say she's disgruntled would be putting it mildly. She's practically datgruntled, too.

Lucky for her, Muppet chickens are easily bribeable, and they help shove tables into place and stick up signs for each one.

There are tables set up throughout the gym, each with a sign taped to the front with the name of the club. Student sponsors should probably be behind it if they want to sell their club. On each table is a clipboard to use when you sign up, but otherwise, you have all that space to put stuff on display or whatever.

Jaye sends the chickens to do their thing (and it's not her fault if a couple stick around to watch the show) takes a seat behind the table nearest to the door to do her thing. If you're rude, you might get thwapped with a clipboard.

[OOC: OCD THREADS COMING. Post now and I keel you. ARE UP.

All new clubs have a thread. Drop off a registration form with Jaye, and then go find your table and sell it.

All students have to either have a job or sign up for a club. Therefore, go find something. IF YOU DON'T SIGN UP, YOU ARE NOT CONSIDERED A MEMBER. So do so.]

Anakin crossed his arms in front of him, tucking his hands into his sleeves.

He coughed and did his very best Obi-Wan immitation. "It's the journey, not the end result, that is important." He nodded seriously, then broke into laughter. "It gives me something to do, and besides, my entire life is devoted to service. This is probably the most Jedi of all the clubs I'm a part of."

"Tucking your hands into your sleeves like that? Makes you look very, very wise," Rory smiled. "And wow, something else I can add to my very short list of Ways That Rory Would Make an Awesome Jedi."

"You can tuck your hands into your sleeves?" Anakin smiled. "Old Jedi trick. One of Obi-Wan's favorites. Don't know why it works as well as it does." He flipped the hood up, covering most of his face, then repeated the gesture. "And this seems to put people into a negotiating mood, even without a lit lightsaber. It's weird." He shrugged and shook the hood back. "But a thousand generations have tried it and it works. Who I am to question it?"

Rory flipped up the hood of her sweatshirt and joined her hands together in her sleeves.

"I don't think it works for me."

Anakin coughed to hide a laugh. "I think the part where your shirt is pink might not be helping."

"But if it was a brown shirt, I could totally pull it off?" Rory asked, arching a brow.

Anakin smiled. "Maybe not. Maybe it's the robe. I mean, I know a being that comes up to my knees--when he flips up his hood, you don't want to mess with him." Anakin looked thoughtful. "You pretty much don't want to mess with him ever. Or his donut stash."

He slipped into another imitation. "For 800 years have I taught Padawans. Know, I do, who has been eating the chocolate glazed ones."

Rory giggled. "You know someone itty-bitty who talks like that? How cute!"

[identity profile] emo-padawan.livejournal.com 2006-01-21 04:09 am (UTC)(link)
"I wouldn't call him cute, exactly, no," Anakin said. "He's the most powerful Jedi I've ever known." He smiled. "Size matters not, you see. Master Yoda makes sure you remember that lesson."

Rory blinked.

"You named your turtle after a super-powerful Jedi?"

Re: DUCKLINGS- At the table

[identity profile] emo-padawan.livejournal.com 2006-01-21 04:23 am (UTC)(link)
Anakin blushed. "A super-powerful Jedi who, um, happens to look a bit like a turtle, yeah. Except the real Yoda has ears."

Rory grinned. "Is he green?"

Re: DUCKLINGS- At the table

"Actually? Yeah." Anakin grinned.

Re: DUCKLINGS- At the table

[identity profile] auroryborealis.livejournal.com 2006-01-21 04:44 am (UTC)(link)
"Awww," Rory said. "He sounds cool. Why does he talk like that? Is there a reason?"

Re: DUCKLINGS- At the table

[identity profile] emo-padawan.livejournal.com 2006-01-21 04:49 am (UTC)(link)
Anakin shrugged. "It's how he talks. He's 850 years old. I'm certainly not going to correct him on grammar."

He raised an eyebrow. "He could kick my ass, anyway. Probably without getting up."

Re: DUCKLINGS- At the table

[identity profile] auroryborealis.livejournal.com 2006-01-21 04:51 am (UTC)(link)
Rory smiled. "I'm still boggling at the idea of something that little being so powerful. But I'm also kind of dumb about stuff like this, still."

Re: DUCKLINGS- At the table

[identity profile] emo-padawan.livejournal.com 2006-01-21 04:58 am (UTC)(link)
Anakin grinned. "Yoda's great. Well, he doesn't really like me much, but yeah. He's been teaching Jedi for 800-something years. The first time you ever pick up a lightsaber? Yoda's there--normally about your height, too."

His eyes were shining at the memory. "He walks with a stick, so you think he wouldn't be any kind of a threat at all--and he doesn't like to use violence. But in a lightsaber duel?" Anakin let out a low whistle. "Whirlwind doesn't come close. Tatooine sand storm doesn't come close. One of the best there is--one of the best there's ever been."

[identity profile] auroryborealis.livejournal.com 2006-01-21 05:08 am (UTC)(link)
"Wow," Rory said admiringly. "Can I ask kind of a stupid question?"

Re: DUCKLINGS- At the table

[identity profile] emo-padawan.livejournal.com 2006-01-21 05:14 am (UTC)(link)
"I bet it's not a stupid question." Anakin smiled. "Go ahead."

"So, maybe physics are different where you're from? But I'm not getting how something that small can have that much force behind it," Rory said. "And I'm sure it has something to do with how you can float stuff."

Re: DUCKLINGS- At the table

[identity profile] emo-padawan.livejournal.com 2006-01-21 05:38 am (UTC)(link)
Anakin ran a hand through his hair, ending with a yank on his braid. "Yeah, it's something to do with the Force. Because the rest of Master Yoda's species aren't so terribly powerful. In the Force? Yoda's second to pretty much no one in terms of strength. Well, me, but I'm ...well, different. And he's been training for centuries, so he has a much better mastery of, you know, everything."

Re: DUCKLINGS- At the table

[identity profile] auroryborealis.livejournal.com 2006-01-21 05:48 am (UTC)(link)
"So wait. You are more powerful than this incredibly powerful little bitty guy?" Rory asked, clearly floored. "Because of, um, the Chosen One thing?"

Re: DUCKLINGS- At the table

[identity profile] emo-padawan.livejournal.com 2006-01-21 05:52 am (UTC)(link)
Anakin winced. "Um. Yes?" He put up his hands. "But I'm still learning. And I have a lot to learn before I could even hope to be as wise or good a Jedi as Master Yoda. Or even Obi-Wan."

Re: DUCKLINGS- At the table

[identity profile] auroryborealis.livejournal.com 2006-01-21 06:11 am (UTC)(link)
"That's - okay, wow," Rory said, eyes wide and sparkling. "I knew about the importance, and that you can do stuff, but...wow. That's amazing, Anakin."

Rory's thoughts? Somewhere around, 'My boyfriend is the most powerful person in his galaxy! And probably in this one too! SQUEE.'

Anakin gave her a shy smile. "Sometimes, yeah," he said. "Sometimes? More than a little terrifying."
