Club Fair, the gym, Friday after classes

After leaving her classes, Jaye heads to the gym to start setting things up. To say she's disgruntled would be putting it mildly. She's practically datgruntled, too.

Lucky for her, Muppet chickens are easily bribeable, and they help shove tables into place and stick up signs for each one.

There are tables set up throughout the gym, each with a sign taped to the front with the name of the club. Student sponsors should probably be behind it if they want to sell their club. On each table is a clipboard to use when you sign up, but otherwise, you have all that space to put stuff on display or whatever.

Jaye sends the chickens to do their thing (and it's not her fault if a couple stick around to watch the show) takes a seat behind the table nearest to the door to do her thing. If you're rude, you might get thwapped with a clipboard.

All new clubs have a thread. Drop off a registration form with Jaye, and then go find your table and sell it.

All students have to either have a job or sign up for a club. Therefore, go find something. IF YOU DON'T SIGN UP, YOU ARE NOT CONSIDERED A MEMBER. So do so.]

Anakin, up on break from the tables he was manning, raised an eyebrow at Rory's new club.

"Do I want to know?" he asked.

"Community service for people who need something to do in their spare time," Rory nodded. She was getting better at explaining this whole thing.

"Good thought," he said. "How much spare time are we talking about?"

"Depends on which part of the club you're interested in. I'm going to be doing research - y'know, finding stuff for other people to do if they're interested. Because I'm not so much with having spare time," she smiled. "There are tons of opportunities out there. And a lot of people just don't know where to look. Make sense?"

Anakin wrinkled his brow. "So if, for example, I think that Logan would benefit from cleaning the duck pond with a toothbrush, I could do the research and suggest it to him?"

"If you could come up with decent research and logic to support it, and Logan was open to it," Rory said, trying not to laugh.

Anakin grinned. "Sounds like a goal. Where do I sign up?"

Rory sighed and rolled her eyes. "On the sheet," she said, pointing. "And remember, this is totally voluntary. So no antagonizing Logan unless he says you can. Which he won't."

"A guy can dream, right?" Anakin said, signing his name with a flourish.

"Sure. I mean, I started the club for personal reasons. You can join to pursue a vendetta of your own," Rory shrugged.

Anakin wrinkled his nose. "Vendetta? That sounds so...unreasonable. I prefer 'quest.'"

"Quest?" Rory smirked. "And what is the end result of this quest?"

Anakin crossed his arms in front of him, tucking his hands into his sleeves.

He coughed and did his very best Obi-Wan immitation. "It's the journey, not the end result, that is important." He nodded seriously, then broke into laughter. "It gives me something to do, and besides, my entire life is devoted to service. This is probably the most Jedi of all the clubs I'm a part of."

"Tucking your hands into your sleeves like that? Makes you look very, very wise," Rory smiled. "And wow, something else I can add to my very short list of Ways That Rory Would Make an Awesome Jedi."

"You can tuck your hands into your sleeves?" Anakin smiled. "Old Jedi trick. One of Obi-Wan's favorites. Don't know why it works as well as it does." He flipped the hood up, covering most of his face, then repeated the gesture. "And this seems to put people into a negotiating mood, even without a lit lightsaber. It's weird." He shrugged and shook the hood back. "But a thousand generations have tried it and it works. Who I am to question it?"

Rory flipped up the hood of her sweatshirt and joined her hands together in her sleeves.

"I don't think it works for me."

Anakin coughed to hide a laugh. "I think the part where your shirt is pink might not be helping."

"But if it was a brown shirt, I could totally pull it off?" Rory asked, arching a brow.

Anakin smiled. "Maybe not. Maybe it's the robe. I mean, I know a being that comes up to my knees--when he flips up his hood, you don't want to mess with him." Anakin looked thoughtful. "You pretty much don't want to mess with him ever. Or his donut stash."

He slipped into another imitation. "For 800 years have I taught Padawans. Know, I do, who has been eating the chocolate glazed ones."

Rory giggled. "You know someone itty-bitty who talks like that? How cute!"

"I wouldn't call him cute, exactly, no," Anakin said. "He's the most powerful Jedi I've ever known." He smiled. "Size matters not, you see. Master Yoda makes sure you remember that lesson."

Rory blinked.

"You named your turtle after a super-powerful Jedi?"

Anakin blushed. "A super-powerful Jedi who, um, happens to look a bit like a turtle, yeah. Except the real Yoda has ears."

Rory grinned. "Is he green?"

"Actually? Yeah." Anakin grinned.
