Welcome Dance - the Gym

The streamers and banners are up. So are a zillion multi-colored helium balloons.

The floor is cleared, and the bandstand is up at the north side of the room, ready for Dusted Bunnies to take their places.

The refreshment table, with the (as yet) unspiked punch is in place. There are chips and stuff as well, Chex mix, a few nachos and some guacamole.

Victor smiled as he and Walter entered the dance. "This place looks great!" he said.

Walter looked around at the Fandom students and grinned. "It's going to be fun. Oh! Do you know how to dance? I'm not sure how well the type of dancing I know is going to go with the music."

Pip sees Victor and Walter walk in together. Smiling to himself, he waves the two of them over.

Walter waved and looked Pip over critically. "You're looking very orange tonight. It's a good look for you."

"Yeah, I'm surprised you're not trying to get us to play a card game or something," Victor added, referencing the tv show <a href="http://www.yugiohkingofgames.com/>Demon Poker</a>.

Pip grinned. "Well, that's because I don't have my cards on me. This dandy is quite the card shark," he grins. "I'm afraid I have no idea what you're referencing, though."

Pip gestured. "Why thank you. I like to stand out amongst all the black suits. Lot more fun to be orange and blue. 'Course, I'm talking to a butler," he says, winking.

"Standing out is not usually something a good butler wants to do, no." Walter shook his head and tried to picture himself in that bright suit and simply could not.

Pip laughs. "Most likely. Where did you learn to buttle? Is there like a school?"

"There are schools, I hear, but it seems that the best butlers learn from a mentor. Usually a parent. In my case, I'm just a quick study. It suits me most of the time - let's me boss people around without actually having to be out front in charge."

"Hi Pippi. So this is the skirt you mentioned? Very nice. Very Pippi." Which is really the best thing to be when one is a Pippi.

"Do I know how do dance?" Victor asked, as if his dancing expertise was common knowledge. "Walter, you're looking at a guy who was friends was a gay olympic skier. I've got moves that haven't even been invented yet." He demonstrated one of the steps Northstar had taught him: a two-side-step with a 360 spin. He finished it with two gunshot fingers pointed at Walter, and gave him a cheesy grin-and-eyebrow-raise combo.

Walter whistled and clapped. "You've got me beat, my friend. I can do a decent jitterbug and that's it. I'll look to you to teach me."

"Jitterbug? We did one of those at dance camp for fun once. It was alright. I'll do my best to teach you some of the newer stuff, though."

He looked at the punch bowl. "Hey, you want something to drink before they spike it?"

"I think that's a good idea. I don't want any question about my actions," Walter joked, thinking of their exchange about root beer the day before.

Victor blushed and went to go get some punch. Everyone around the bowl seemed to be fine, so he filled two cups and brought them back to Walter. "So, you've really never been to a dance before?"

"Thanks," Walter said and took a cup.

He shook his head and took a sip of his apparently unaltered drink. "I haven't been to school in years. When I was in school, we were too young for dances."
