After ACJ, Janet went up to her room, grabbed her backpack, and came back over to open up the library. She sat down behind the Collections Desk and started to process any library card applications that weren't finished yesterday.

Janet watched Belthazor come into the library and thought he always looked suspicious.

Bel stood up and headed over to the geology section and picked out a few books about earthquakes and volcanoes, then returned to his seat.

Janet frowned at Belthazor when his back was turned.

Bel brought three books up to the front desk to check out: Encyclopedia of Earthquakes and Volcanoes, Earthshock: Hurricanes, Volcanoes, Earthquakes, Tornadoes, and Other Forces of Nature, Care of the Soul : A Guide for Cultivating Depth and Sacredness in Everyday Life. He produced his library card and waited expectantly.

"How are you doing today?" asked Janet, perfectly politely, but with a chilly edge to her voice.

These books had better not be overdue.

"Fine, thank you," Bel said cheerily. "How are you? Just wanted to check these three out. Two weeks, right? I won't make the same mistake with these that I did with the other book. They'll be returned on time, promise."

"I'm just wonderful," said Janet. "Two weeks on the dot. I think the new librarian is going to be even stricter than the last one." She glanced over the books as she checked them out. "Are you in Geology this semester?"

"No," he said. "Just, um, personal interest. "A little reading for fun instead of for school when I have the time."

"I see," said Janet. She'd probably mention to Angel what books Belthazor was checking out. "Are you a fan of the subject, then? There's a Paleontology class running this semester too."

"Isn't paleontology about dinosaurs?" Bel said. "Saw plenty bones from them in the Underworld. No, just trying to broaden my knowledge base. Next week maybe it'll be astronomy or something."

[janet_fraiser]

"Yes, but I'd presume it's also about the geological strata," said Janet. "There's apparently a practical section as well as a lecture section."

[demonbelthazor]

"Huh," Bel said. "Well, if these books are as interesting as they look, maybe I'll looking to adding it if it doesn't conflict with my other classes. Know when it is?"

[janet_fraiser]

"Sixth or seventh period, Mondays and Wednesdays," said Janet. Damn. "Taught by Dr. Oliver, one of the new teachers. I just added it myself."

"If it's sixth I already have Sociology of the Paranormal," Bel mused, "but I'm free the seventh." He grinned at Janet. "Thanks, I'll have to check it out."
