Library, 1/09

[chasingangela]

Angela isn't sure whether she's more frightened by the fact this is her first time opening the library, by the new students, or by the Librarian.

Her stomach is a mass of butterflies as she turns on the lights and takes a place behind the checkout desk, braced for the onslaught.

Lee, with a ridiculously huge smile on his face, walks into the library, grabs a book on Jung and starts reading in a corner.

Still trying to get the taste of bad shop class coffee out of her mouth, Sam took a seat near Lee and took occasional swigs from a bottle of water.

"Morning, Lee. You look like you're in a good mood."

"Hey, Miss Carter, good to see you this morning!" Lee says with a grin. "I'm such a dork. I really have missed coming to the library during the week." He chuckles. "Such a dork."

Sam grinned back. Okay, it was a little dorky, but it's not like she was the one to cast stones on that topic. "No, I think it's great."

"So, have a good weekend?"

"Yeah, I think," Lee says, blushing suddenly. "There was a party of great decadence in my room because someone was telling the whole world during the voicemail screwup on Friday that there was a party in my room that night... very odd."

"What about you? How are things going in the fantastic world of Sam Carter?"

"Oh, that's right!" Sam grinned, and it may have been a bit more mischevious than usual. "I was going to show up to that, but I got, er, a bit distracted." She blushed a bit.

"Things are good. Shop class went well, but don't drink any coffee Crichton offers you today. He made it in an oil pan. Just a warning."

"Well, you were missed, I must say," Lee says deviously.

"I never drink coffee Crichton offers me, but thanks for the warning," he quips. "Got any other classes today?"

Parker comes in looking worse for wear and definitely out of sorts. "How can the semester be starting already? Ugh." She puts her head down on the counter and whimpers.

"Gremlin bite," she muttered, pouting. "I woke up in Broots' room with his roomie spazzing out at me because I thought I was Broots last night."

"Oh, fine. Except for the bite mark and the sore head and dear god, Sandberg is frightening. Don't ever give him coffee. Ever. He and Bridge Carson were separated at birth, and he was caffienated to the point of incoherence." She shudders. "How's your first day back? What's your first class? And how is Kara?"

"Got me a soch and a psych class this morning. Should be fun -- you?" he asks politely.

"Kara... well, she's Kara, you know? Everything was great till last night when I couldn't find the girl, but sometimes she needs her space," he says, with only a mild bit of angst. "Saw Anakin last night, though. He's such a great friend."

"Tactics of War, that's it for Mondays." Parker rubbed her head. "Ah. She may have been upset that I beat her in a sparring match yesterday. She takes things so seriously." She shrugged, not about to get into the rest of that with Lee. Ever, if she could help it.

She grimaced at the mention of Anakin, then sighed. "I'm sure Skywalker is. When he's not running into the cultural barrier." She shook her head. "So, up for a game of xBox later? I still say I can beat your ass."

"You beat her in a sparring match? Damn, Parker, you must have really gotten under her guard. I've never won a sparring match with her. Wow. Well done!," Lee says, impressed.

"xBOX!" he says gleefully. "Bring it on, Parker! Let's do some of that as soon as possible!"

Isabel smiled at Parker, recognizing her as the birthday girl from the party at Caritas.

After a couple minutes of whining, Parker straightens up, then blinks. "Hello. Can I help you?"

Parker smiled, surprised. Finally, a new person who wasn't some variety of dork. "Thanks. I'm Parker, in case you were lead astray by the name on the cake. And you are...?"

"I missed the cake in the crowd. And never really made it past the General conversation/surprise thread." She held out her hand, "Nice to meet you Parker, Isabel Evans."

Prker shook her hand, smiling widely. "You got me the candle! Thanks, it was lovely! Exactly the kind of thing I'd buy for myself. And you certainly didn't have to bring a gift, since you didn't even know me. How did you get shanghai'd to my party, anyway?"

After filling out the paperwork for her library card, Pippi wanders around the library with Mr. Neilson on her shoulder looking at all the books.

Mr. Neilson seems to take the prodigious amount of knowlage contained therein in stride. Pippi on the other hand, is in complete awe.
