Library, 1/09

Angela isn't sure whether she's more frightened by the fact this is her first time opening the library, by the new students, or by the Librarian.

Her stomach is a mass of butterflies as she turns on the lights and takes a place behind the checkout desk, braced for the onslaught.

[OOC Note: You do need a card to use the library. Might as well take care of it today. OCD threads are here.]

Parker comes in looking worse for wear and definitely out of sorts. "How can the semester be starting already? Ugh." She puts her head down on the counter and whimpers.

"Ah, my beloved Miss Parker, why so blue?" Lee asks.

"Gremlin bite," she muttered, pouting. "I woke up in Broots' room with his roomie spazzing out at me because I thought I was Broots last night."

Lee pats her sympathetically. "You okay, though?"

"Oh, fine. Except for the bite mark and the sore head and dear god, Sandberg is frightening. Don't ever give him coffee. Ever. He and Bridge Carson were separated at birth, and he was caffienated to the point of incoherence." She shudders. "How's your first day back? What's your first class? And how is Kara?"

"Got me a soch and a psych class this morning. Should be fun -- you?" he asks politely.

"Kara... well, she's Kara, you know? Everything was great till last night when I couldn't find the girl, but sometimes she needs her space," he says, with only a mild bit of angst. "Saw Anakin last night, though. He's such a great friend."

"Tactics of War, that's it for Mondays." Parker rubbed her head. "Ah. She may have been upset that I beat her in a sparring match yesterday. She takes things so seriously." She shrugged, not about to get into the rest of that with Lee. Ever, if she could help it.

She grimaced at the mention of Anakin, then sighed. "I'm sure Skywalker is. When he's not running into the cultural barrier." She shook her head. "So, up for a game of xBox later? I still say I can beat your ass."

"You beat her in a sparring match? Damn, Parker, you must have really gotten under her guard. I've never won a sparring match with her. Wow. Well done!," Lee says, impressed.

"xBOX!" he says gleefully. "Bring it on, Parker! Let's do some of that as soon as possible!"

Re: Socializing

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2006-01-09 07:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Parker smirks, just a little. "I don't think she was ready for what I was dishing out. And stop by my place when you've got a minute!"

"Sure thing, Parker!" Lee says.

Isabel smiled at Parker, recognizing her as the birthday girl from the party at Caritas.

After a couple minutes of whining, Parker straightens up, then blinks. "Hello. Can I help you?"

Re: Socializing

[identity profile] izzyalienqueen.livejournal.com 2006-01-09 08:17 pm (UTC)(link)
"I just wanted to say Happy Birthday, we never got a chance to actually talk the other night."

Re: Socializing

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2006-01-09 08:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Parker smiled, surprised. Finally, a new person who wasn't some variety of dork. "Thanks. I'm Parker, in case you were lead astray by the name on the cake. And you are...?"

Re: Socializing

[identity profile] izzyalienqueen.livejournal.com 2006-01-09 08:25 pm (UTC)(link)
"I missed the cake in the crowd. And never really made it past the General conversation/surprise thread." She held out her hand, "Nice to meet you Parker, Isabel Evans."

Re: Socializing

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2006-01-09 08:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Prker shook her hand, smiling widely. "You got me the candle! Thanks, it was lovely! Exactly the kind of thing I'd buy for myself. And you certainly didn't have to bring a gift, since you didn't even know me. How did you get shanghai'd to my party, anyway?"

Re: Socializing

[identity profile] izzyalienqueen.livejournal.com 2006-01-09 08:34 pm (UTC)(link)
"I'm glad you liked it. I couldn't not bring something to the party." She laughed, "My mother would have reached out and smacked me all the way from New Mexico. 'You never go to a party without a gift'. She's pretty big on good manners and all that, so I'm pretty much indoctrinated at this point. I was wandering the hallways and found Jaye. She said it would be fun."

Re: Socializing

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2006-01-09 08:36 pm (UTC)(link)
"Ahh. Jaye has talked a lot of people into trouble with the words, 'it could be fun,' but I'm glad you had a good time anyway." Parker shook her head. "New Mexico? What part? The desert, or the mountains? We've got a whole Colorado contingent from Springs that might be close to where you're from."

Re: Socializing

[identity profile] izzyalienqueen.livejournal.com 2006-01-09 08:40 pm (UTC)(link)
"It was fun. I got to meet some nice people." She waved her hand in Janet's direction.

"Unfortunately, I'm not from that end of the state. I'm from down in the desert, Roswell to be exact." She might grimace slightly as she says it.

Parker nodded at Fraiser. "Yeah, Fraiser's a cool person to know. She's the one that kept our ex-boss in line, last semester." Parker bit her lip in amusement as she noticed Isabel's expression when she said 'Roswell'. "I won't make the standard jokes. I promise. I'm sure you've heard them all anyway."

"Oh I've heard them. Although since coming to Fandom they've taken on a whole new meaning," she said without a trace of irony in her voice.

Re: Socializing

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2006-01-10 01:07 am (UTC)(link)
"Heh. I'll bet. So how many aliens have you met so far? Most of them are pretty cool, from what I've seen." She grinned. "Although between the mutant, alien, demon and other possibilities, it's impossible to take anything for granted when you talk to someone."

Re: Socializing

[identity profile] izzyalienqueen.livejournal.com 2006-01-10 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
Isabel thought about that mental list she'd been keeping. "So far I've only met two, I understand there's more. But I've also met a dragon, a demon, a shapeshifter and a vampire." She paused, thinking for a moment. "I've also been warned about zombies, a giant squid, and gremlins."

She shook her head. "And I never ever thought I would ever say something like that and mean it."

Re: Socializing

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2006-01-10 01:27 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, the brochure completely lies. Hmmm." Parker cocked her head. "I need to say why we even bother to go here, don't I? Positive things-- they really don't pay attention to the drinking age much, so if you drink, yay. If you don't? There's usually someone making an entertaining fool of themselves at least once a weekend. No *real* curfews, as long as you're discreet. The teachers are almost all good to fantastic. Most of the students are quite cool, and the clubs are first-rate if you're into certain things. And every once in a while, there's a miniature giraffe to brighten your day."

Re: Socializing

[identity profile] izzyalienqueen.livejournal.com 2006-01-10 01:38 am (UTC)(link)
Isabel laughed, "Well I don't drink so that's not really an issue. Entertaining fools are always fun. I haven't had to worry about curfew yet, and given the list outside the bathroom, I don't think it's going to be an issue at this rate. I haven't had a class yet so I don't know about my teachers. Everyone I've met has been great so far. I haven't been to a club meeting but I am running for sophomore class representative. And I haven't seen a minature giraffe yet but I wouldn't be surprised to see one at this point."

"Oh god, that was a ramble wasn't it?", she asked, shaking her head.
