Methos looks around his domain. In less than a month, it's going to be someone else's domain.

He's not quite sure how he feels about that.

Finding the journalism classroom closed, Angela makes her way to the library, bearing a bag of chocolate-chip cookies. "Hi, Dr. Pierson. Want a cookie? They're from my secret Santa," she says, around a mouthful of crumbs. "Came with a book on mythology."

"Hey," says Janet, coming in and tossing her backpack down behind the counter. "You look glum."

Methos grins at her. "I always want a cookie." He takes it, regards it thoughtfully, then bites into it. "I hope it's not like the cafeteria food."

Lee all but bounces into the library.

"I'm going to be teaching history next semester," Methos said glumly.

*Zero comes in, carrying her math book and looking very tired indeed. So...much...studying.*

"And this is a bad thing why?" asked Janet.

"Or the JA bake sale," Angela points out. "I mean, I ate one, and I'm fine. I think they're just regular cookies." Concern creases her face. "I hope they are."

Angela smiles. "Hey, Lee. What's with the good mood?"

"Let me take another one, just in case," Methos says slyly. And winks.

"It's not a bad thing. It's a great thing. But they -- the school administration -- in their infinite wisdom, don't think I can handle the library and two sections of history. So they're hiring a new librarian."

"A new boss? But I'm not even used to you yet."

They what? You mean like an assistant librarian, right? Not...

You're leaving us?

"I'm not leaving you," Methos says forcefully. "I'm just... going to be down the hall a bit."

"Wait, you're leaving us?" Janet shook her head. "We can't break in a new librarian. We're used to you."

"I'm not leaving, I swear. I'm just not going to be in charge of the library anymore."

After being accosted by Veronica, Bel returned to Study Hall to get his notes, then decided to head to the library. He strolled in, a smug look on his face, and took a seat. Every once in awhile he cast a longing look towards Special Collections.

"Hey!," he says with a broad grin. "I don't know! Just feeling gleeful! So how's Miss Angela today?"

"Well, let's see. I'm lazy, shove as much work off on my assistants as possible, and I didn't even come in yesterday. How is that different from most other bosses you've had?" Methos grins at her.

But if you're not the librarian any more we'll never see you unless we're in your classes and hey, I'm not giving up my part of the soul, Mister, so if this is a cunning plan to escape no go. And the new librarian might be awful and mean and wear blazers; and he'll not let us have coffee and then that shelf at the back will fall on me because the Library wouldn't like that.

*finally breathes*

Janet frowned at him. "We like you being in charge of the library. We don't want you to leave us." She took a very large drink from her mug of coffee and glanced up at Methos. "Need a TA?" she asked.

Methos takes her shoulders and looks in her eyes because he's too British to give her a big hug, but awwwwwwwwwwwww. "If the new librarian is mean, don't forget I have a big shiny sword and I'm not afraid to use it. And if you get a fool who makes you wear blazers and doesn't let you have coffee, I'll be in here every day because I'll be laughing at the chaos that will make the new librarian's life hell. Understand?"

*looks up hopefully* I don' suppose we can be your TAs, as we've got to keep this place runnin' without you now, but don' think you're gettin' out of teachin' us.

Janet gave him a look. "I like being in charge, I'm organized, and I could care less if you don't come in," she said. "How does this not work out well for us on all levels?"
