Methos looks around his domain. In less than a month, it's going to be someone else's domain.

He's not quite sure how he feels about that.

"It's not a bad thing. It's a great thing. But they -- the school administration -- in their infinite wisdom, don't think I can handle the library and two sections of history. So they're hiring a new librarian."

"Well, let's see. I'm lazy, shove as much work off on my assistants as possible, and I didn't even come in yesterday. How is that different from most other bosses you've had?" Methos grins at her.

Janet gave him a look. "I like being in charge, I'm organized, and I could care less if you don't come in," she said. "How does this not work out well for us on all levels?"

"I think Janet is right," Angela says. "A new boss might, like, make me do real training, or stop us from eating here. I like you."

"Well, he--or she--could try," said Janet. "It might be funny to watch."

Angela snickers at this. "Okay, you have a point. I still wish things didn't have to change. It makes me cranky."

"I'm not leaving you," Methos says forcefully. "I'm just... going to be down the hall a bit."

But if you're not the librarian any more we'll never see you unless we're in your classes and hey, I'm not giving up my part of the soul, Mister, so if this is a cunning plan to escape no go. And the new librarian might be awful and mean and wear blazers; and he'll not let us have coffee and then that shelf at the back will fall on me because the Library wouldn't like that.

Methos takes her shoulders and looks in her eyes because he's too British to give her a big hug, but awwwwwwwwwwwww. "If the new librarian is mean, don't forget I have a big shiny sword and I'm not afraid to use it. And if you get a fool who makes you wear blazers and doesn't let you have coffee, I'll be in here every day because I'll be laughing at the chaos that will make the new librarian's life hell. Understand?"

*looks up hopefully* I don' suppose we can be your TAs, as we've got to keep this place runnin' without you now, but don' think you're gettin' out of teachin' us.

Tweed! He might wear tweed and make us wear tweed an' I know I'm half-English, but I can't wear tweed. It gives me hives.

"Have you seen the people in this school? I don't know about Bristow, but I can't imagine Professor Jerusalem forcing anyone to wear tweed. Actually, I could, because it would probably make him laugh evilly, but I'm trying to be comforting, damnit."

"I'm not leaving, I swear. I'm just not going to be in charge of the library anymore."

Janet frowned at him. "We like you being in charge of the library. We don't want you to leave us." She took a very large drink from her mug of coffee and glanced up at Methos. "Need a TA?" she asked.

Methos grins at her. "You don't even know what kind of history I'll be teaching. What if I make you TA the history of beer brewing?"

"Then getting drunk is obviously part of my official duties," says Janet, snickering. "You're not escaping me all that easily. So what kind of history are you teaching?"
